Jethro's. lights fuse and runs away...

The original location has always been pretty consistent but I've had some pretty awful BBQ at the Waukee and WDM locations.

I'd believe it. I think the Altoona and Drake sites are the better locations. But I'm accustomed to Smokey D's more now anyways.

Apparently all this food talk got me hungrier (eating earlier) and I keep talking more about food.

I haven't had Qdoba in years but I prefer Chipotle to Pancheros, but I also don't really know anything about Chipotle's ads that people seem to not like.

That's sad. They missed the whole idea of treating customers well.
I'm not really mad about it. It's part of their business model to have peanuts and shells everywhere. Obviously it works pretty well for them.

If they can't cater to my needs, then I just don't go there. Same goes for 5 guys.

I nominate most fan food places I've visited in the South. I order "a cheeseburger, fries, and a Diet Coke." They say, "And what would you like with your cheeseburger?" So, I say "Fries and a Diet Coke." Then, they say, "OK, a cheeseburger and fries. Would you like something to drink?"

Seriously, can you not remember three things at one time?

I think this is why combo meals were invented.

I've never had a good meal at Outback. Always just kind of there.

Been a couple mentions of wait service in the thread, so I thought I'd comment.

My ex-mother-in-law (who was a waitress at times in her life) was the rudest person I've ever seen when dealing with wait staff. Absolutely no patience, talked down to people, etc. Made me embarrassed every time it happened. My take is that 95% of wait staff are good people who are genuinely committed to serving you the way you expect to be served. Many times the kitchen or the bar will let them down, and they have to take the flak.

Tipping is another thing......my current father-in-law, who is by nature a very generous man, is a skinflint when it comes to tipping. He'll take us all to dinner and then leave a $5 tip. (On, say, a $60 or $70 tab.) So my wife and I, who used to argue with him about it to no avail, surreptitiously fatten it up for the wait person. I'm a generous tipper, unless the service absolutely sucks - usually 15-20% is a rule for me. I know those people are for the most part woefully underpaid, and as someone who is in a service business, I understand.

Just my 2 cents........

I have some relatives that always complain about their food or service when dining out. It almost seems like they complain just to try and get a free meal out of it. They expect 5-star meal and service even when going to an Applebees.

Subway. I love Quizno's and Firehouse. Subway sandwiches just seem like bread, lettuce, and meat that is sliced about as thin as possible and served in as small of portions as possible. I don't even feel like I'm getting a real sandwich unless I order double meat. Also, I hate looking as wallpaper of the New York subway when I'm in other cities, especially ones that have their own subways. That always bugs me.

Pretty sad what CFers consider a restaurant. Sound like a bunch of janitor Hoks.

Gonna throw another one out there.

Pizza Ranch.

I guess if you hadn't eaten in a day or so it would be great, but my experience is nothing there tastes much like anything. Bland ordinary food, but all you want of it.

I remember having multiple friends who just salivated when CF went in to Jordan Creek.

It's a huge menu of wildly mediocre food, IMO. It reminds me of Applebee's - they just don't do anything great, but people line up for that crap. It's certainly not worth waiting for 2 hours to even get seated.
When did the Cyclone Fanatic corporate offices move to Jordan Creek?

I feel like I'm out of the loop not knowing the political views of my favorite restaurants. Is this a normal thing to know about?

Yeah I couldnt care less. To me, a boycott doesnt send their owners a message. It just robs me of getting my grub on.
