I'm still wondering why the NK wouldn't kill Drogon instead of Viserion. Bigger dragon. Closer. Not a moving target. Oh, and all of my enemies are trying to escape on it.

If he goes after Drogon there, he likely kills everyone else by sheer numbers, as well as removing the people in charge that pose any real threat to stopping him.

The NK is just a javelin-throwing showboater.

Conversely, why didn't the dragons just torch the Night King and his blue-faced comrades. End of war. Of course, that is what Lyanna Mormont would have done. But....alas it is a show and.....

I thought the same thing, but someone here corrected me a while back. He was forced to "take the black" to disinherit him from the family. He has no claims to the Tarly household anymore.

yeah, what would be the point of Bran warging into the sword?

Agreed. What would be the point? If Bran wanted to "watch" the battle, he had plenty of time to warg into a raven, eagle, etc and just fly around (outside of the NK's javelin range). We are supposed to believe Gendry ran back to Eastwatch, dispatched a raven to Dragonstone, and Dany had time to fly dragons back. They had to been stuck on that rock outcropping for a long time if any of that is to be believed.

Great episode. For the record, I wanted Bronn to shoot down a dragon, but was sad when the Night King did.

Did anybody else on Mediacom in DSM lose HBO from about 7:30 to 10:00??? We did . . . not happy . . .

Is Jon Lightbringer? Was that his first defeat, the defeat in water? This would align with Reagar being Azor Ahia which is a pretty popular theory.

For those reading and not knowing what Lightbringer was, it was the sword used by Azor Ahia to defeat the Walkers originally. It took him three tries to properly temper the sword, first it broke in water, then in a lion and finally, he plunged into the breast of his wife Nissa Nissa, her soul bound the sword it was tempered and he was able to kick walker ass.

I have no clue just thought it might be something, or it could be nothing.

Maybe he wanted the experience of warging into a more emotional object.

I am trying to wrap my head around Daenyrus and Jon's romance. Her type is usually a swashbuckling brutish type, Jon is a brooding Nes like northerner, solemn, but still a warrior I guess. I mean, his sweet reverse spin was amazing.

I guess I could see her appreciating his sincerity, his sacrifice of his own life to save hers and Drogons lives. Also, Khal Drogo was under her control to some extent, but not a partner. Dario was always just a distraction, never a serious suitor. Maybe she's matured and wants a man like Ned who was devoted and loyal to his wife.

I don't know, I had not seen it, but I guess I am warming up to it.

If I had to guess, HBO and DBW/DB have gone full throttle entertainment mode to finish this off, and there will be few, if any, complicated book storylines introduced.

I thought Jon was Azor Ahi when he saved Lord Commander Mormont with a sword on fire.

When the Hound looked in the flames and got visions I started to wonder if he could be it. Being touched by fire as a kid. Great sword fighter, would be a nice twist to his fear of fire.

It is the story of ice and fire so I assume it has to come into play unless Dany is the only "fire" .

It'd be funny if the show writers had Dany head off to Ulthos in the finale just to **** with the psychos on Reddit.

I think Melisandre has made references to AA/TPTWP to many times for us not to get at a minimum her realizing there never was one, or her nodding in approval of whoever it is. It is already built into the story.

Strange thought that just popped into my head:

If Daenarys was killed by the walkers, would they be able to burn her body or would she still be fireproof?

I thought the same thing. I was thinking "getting him out of there" then the NK started aiming to the sky. Maybe the NK knew he could get Drogon, as it would take a minute for him to get in the air so why not go for two dragons instead of one. Also not entirely sure the NK thinks any of the humans are a threat to his plans, so killing them probably isn't his highest priority.

Viserion was the bigger threat to his army at the time. Drogon was essentially a school bus at that moment - lying on the ground as Dany and Jon loaded people onto Drogon's back - not exactly a threat at that moment. Meanwhile, Viserion was flying around shooting jets of fire at his undead army. Just because your zerg is made up of disposable soldiers doesn't mean you intentionally waste them. So take out the bigger threat. And yes, Drogon is bigger - but Viserion is still a dragon and does devastating damage all on his own - and he almost got Drogon as well anyway.
