A couple years back the game in Ames was only Beathard's second start and first real one in front of a tough crowd.

The good news for ISU is that they have a far more talented team than the 2013 squad that faced an inexperienced Ruddock at home. Also knock on wood, Jacob Park isn't in a moped accident before Saturday, therefore killing the offenses chances vs Iowa.
The 2015 team had similar talent as this squad, and really wasted a good opportunity with a decent sized lead. If not for a near safety on Beathard, or Rhoads deciding to go fo a 4th and short in the 1st half, that game could easily had a different outcome. Perhaps this will be ISU's year to win.

They're a work in progress but I like the lines on both sides of the ball for ISU this year more than 2015 and an actual reliable core of receivers. Especially for the long haul.
On the other hand it was stupid that the 2015 team only won 3 games.
For what it's worth, I thought Lanning's first go-around at LB actually went fairly well.

I've wondered for a while now if this guy is a Hawk fan pretending to be a Cyclone. Read his post history..
He's neither. He's an ESPN message board refugee who ended up here for some unknown reason. He used to post as Bodeclone, and I think he's burned through a couple other handles on here.
WIth regard to the OP, to say this will be in front of "61,500 hostile Cyclone fans" is wishful thinking. As we all really know, there will be at least 10,000 fans for that school to the east. Shoot, they even get about 200 or 300 of their fans into the Sukup End Zone seats.
So many Cyclones sell their tickets to Hawk fans, in addition to the Hawks who buy online or even buy our cheap ticket packages just to get in the gate for this one game. The Cyclone fans who do attend are going to have to kick up their involvement a couple notches to truly make it a hostile environment. My guess is that this will essentially be a non-factor in the game due to there being so many Hawk fans that get in our stadium. And I assume this is basically unavoidable and that Cyclone fans do the same thing when the game is over there. But I have never been to Kinnick so I have no first-hand knowledge. Perhaps others can clarify if this does indeed work both ways.
