Agree - the hire never made sense. There are many very good coaches out there that would have jumped at Nebraska. Two first-year coaches at lesser programs in the Big Ten, Brohm at Purdue and Fleck at Minn, would have lit it up at Neb IMO.
AD Eichorst has to be on the hot seat.

Not sure what this means but unless it means conference championships and occasional national championships it's not germane to the OP.

Twenty years ago I couldn't conceive that NU fans would aspire to being Michigan State. Now they are.

I grew up in Nebraska and attended ISU because of the engineering program. I was a husker fan growing up and during college. After graduating and moving back to Nebraska, I became a Cyclone fan only. I had to be away from husker fans and around Cyclone fans to see just how delusional and annoying husker fans are. As the two programs move in opposite directions, I enjoy watching college football with my husker friends more and more.

Or just hire the right coach? I mean, look what is happening at Purdue almost overnight when the right coach is hired.
Any college football program, no matter the pedigree, can't survive the wrong coach. Alabama went south with Mike Shula. USC, Texas, OU, Michigan, etc. etc. all suffered when the wrong HC was selected.
Riley was just the wrong hire.

They have had the right coaches hired. All Solich and Pelini did was go out and win 9 games every year.

That wasnt good enough for the hicks in Lincoln and they ended up with Callahan and Riley.

Its time for the Nebby AD to evaluate where they are as a football program.

Have to laugh at all the Husker hating.
News flash: Iowa State, if invited to join the Big Ten, would have left the Big 12 too. In a second.

Honestly this is just stupid. I'll hate the Huskers for a vast number of reasons and be happy to do so.

For the record, of course we would have moved to the Big 10. However, I hope we wouldn't have whined about Texas getting more money in the process when we voted against revenue sharing until it stopped helping us.

I could see Campbell being a hot name at some point when NU coach is fired. I bet they wait a year. If they do and we have a good year next year. I see no reason they would not come after our coach.

No need. They have no inherent advantages that make them better than Iowa or Wisconsin. For the foreseeable future they're Iowa lite.

The one reason I can think of is Scott Frost.

I agree if Frost can deliver as a head coach. However, Frost may not want to go back to Nebraska. He may want to wait for a warm weather opening. Not sure. Same with Campbell.
