Has anyone contacted that FBI tip line to report that Cliff Alexander incident a few years ago and the family member taking out a loan. Any connection to that to what is coming out just now? Hmmmmmmmm

Correct. The "just pay them" argument is so easy to make but in reality would just make matters worse. Don't get me wrong the NCAA and the big time programs are make a killing and can afford to pay but everybody forgets about the non power schools and conferences.
Throw in title IX and it gets even worse. Where do you stop? Do the schools that can afford it just pay their players and those that can't don't? What's the limit? What happens at the MAC schools or all the other schools that aren't making a ton(or any) money off TV deals? Do you just pay the FB and BB players? What about female athletes and non revenue sports?
My fear is that paying college athletes would be the end of college sports popularity. It would make college teams minor league professional teams. Less people passionately care about or watch the minor leagues. Most casual fans know who won the NCAA men's tournament last year, but how many know who won the D-league championship? And the D-league is "higher level" basketball than the college game.

So when do we find that the NCAA had an idea that this was going on but hid it to cover their marquee programs?
Makes you think, in one state you have a top ten blue blood who pays you six figures and gives you a happy ending with the visit. Not that many miles away in the same state is another top five blue blood that gets more big name recruits.

Obviously we wouldn't want to take a player associated with this but if the heads start to roll I am glad we have an open scholarship for a midyear guy

Do we have parity now. Hmm. let me take a wild stab at this year's final four. Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, Zone. How many do I get correct. Having all the programs pay a base salary / hourly rate will actually strength the parity among P5 programs. Obviously, will be a big step down to the next level which will likely not pay players and just provide scholarships.

So how many players are going to be ruled ineligible this season? I feel bad for this kid in the sense that it says that his family received the money on his behalf. Sure it's sketchy as hell, but honestly the kid knows enough that he can't take any money directly, and I'm sure these coaches/agents/financial advisers were telling him that this is "just how it's done." It's honestly no different than what Reggie Bush did
Side note, how freaking long is it going to take the NCAA to respond to all of this? Perhaps in a couple years they will rule some of these guys ineligible. Their compliance department must be in utter chaos mode, and I approve.
