Wonder if the Anthony Davis recruitment is too far back to get some good dirt on? Chicago Sun Times eventually stood by their reporting that officials at a couple of universities stated that the Davis family asked for money to sign him and that they were told Kentucky paid 200k. Davis family threatened to sue but never did.

If Nike paid the players with no involvement from the school, there is no crime involved for the school. If a coach is involved in the payment or an attempted payment then the school is in trouble.
You might be right about this but my question really is, "If there are multiple cases of breaking federal law (in this case, by the athletes) and a continuing pattern of this behavior at one institution, what would the NCAA regulations say about that?"

This is making the (probably somewhat unrealistic) assumption that all university officials have reasonable deniability of some sort.

Wouldn't be surprised if Florida state was hit also.

I just want to state the FBI Smackdown Prediction Thread is a pretty good thread title.

Relative to Auburn.
Auburn president Steven Leath told ESPN that he received a call Monday night and was advised that an FBI agent wanted to meet with Leath the next morning, without any indication of what the meeting was about. Leath said he wasn't worried, because he assumed it had to do with his security clearance related to certain projects and research work on campus -- not about athletics.

That would suck to have to deal with that in your first year.

If Iowa State comes out unscathed from all of this it could really be a boost to our program.
Since it's the FBI and not the NCAA it should not be a case in which the guy getting passed while going 68 in the 65 mph zone gets pulled over.

Agreed, and you can already see the talking heads (Jeff Goodman is one) already spouting off about replacements for Pitino like it's a run of the mill hire. They just don't get it, this isn't the NCAA, this is the Feds.
To be fair, our society has been conditioned to believe that the Blue Bloods are "untouchable." Louisville, Calipari, Brucey from Ahburn (I hope they burn too, btw), UNC, etc. This is why I'd like to see UL get the hammer! It might wake up the talking heads AND the public at large that this s*** won't be tolerated - not even when it is committed by the NCAA's golden gooses.
