But yes...even a game against a ranked opponent when the team is in contention for a playoff spot...TCU didn't sell out. They were 2000 short and 10,000 short of what we put in the stands every home game

What I dont understand is how we can sell out all of those games in the Rhoads era when we they were putting out a terrible product on the field. This team is actually really good and really fun to watch. I would buy a ticket just to watch David Montgomery make fools of people.

Sadly, the people we all need to convince to buy tickets are not on Fanatic. Most people on here are die hards and will already be there if they can make it. Its all of our casual ISU neighbor and friend fans that we need to get in the stands.
Hey, look...this guy gets it.

A lot of those people that bought tickets when Rhoads was here...Thought the same thing in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. They thought...we have a great coach, he is turning the program around. We just beat the #2 team in the country we have turned the corner. Then they got kicked in the teeth with 11 wins in 4 years.

And people here wonder why they aren't jumping on board yet? Really?

We didn’t sell out October/november games under rhoads. His last year under the new stadium configuration we had 52k, 53k, and 54k for our last 3 games.
And there weren't that many in the stands.

Maybe we should aim to be a little better than TCU.

Signed,
The Arrogant Cyclone Fans of America
We are already better fans than TCU and 70% of the country. To get the rest on board you need to be successful like the other 30%.

Signed knowledgable fan that pays attention to the world outside of iSu and doesn't bitcha bout other fans and tell them what their priorities should be

I think it sells out if the weather is good. We will benefit from the hype all week! Sounds like we are at 90% capacity right now. Isn't that an A-?
No according to many on here...
  • That is pathetic
  • That is embarrassing
  • we don't deserve Campbell
  • our fanbase isn't as great as it claims

Since folks aren't paying for road games, it's probably as much the home record as the overall record. 6 home league wins in the last 5.5 seasons, and 3 of those were against Kansas.
2017 - 2-2 (UNI, Kansas)
2016 - 2-4 (San Jose, Texas Tech)
2015 - 3-3 (UNI, Kansas, Texas)
2014 - 1-6 (Toledo)
2013 - 1-5 (Kansas)
2012 - 3-4 (Tulsa, Western Illinois, Baylor)

Statistics on CF are made up 82.35% of the time.

We appreciate your worldly view and giving it 115% for the Clones!

Honestly, I think ISU just needs to keep growing the fan base as a whole which is something I think they are currently doing a good job of. The fan base is growing thanks to increased enrollment, a quality basketball team and things like the Cyclone tailgate tour.

More fans available to fill the stadium means these reasons for not going are going to matter less and less.

Moral of the story: if you don't like empty seats, make some more Cyclone fans with a member of the opposite sex.

Its not a matter of an extra couple thousand people or not. Its that the biggest game in 15+ years isn't sold out yet... If we can't sell this game out then what are we doing as fans?
We have dips in attendance in october and november since forever. Clearly a portion of our early season attendees drops out as the weather turns cooler. Our fanbase is finite. Weather greatly affects the fringe fans.

I also think that it is great that JP is emphasizing programs that get younger kids involved with ISU athletics. With the way millennials and younger generations are trending with how they choose to spend their time, it is important to get ahead of the curve on that.

Well it is fact that we put more butts in Jack Trice than TCU does int heir stadium year in and year out. That is fact. iSu is well known for traveling for bowl games and tournament games. That is fact. I probably shot a little too low just to be cautious.

Take a look at attendance numbers and attendance based on % of capacity and tell me I am making up those numbers. But I doubt you will. You will be too busy telling fans how they are bad fans.

Saying we should aim to be better than TCU is just flat out ignoring that we already are and shows a lack of understanding basic numbers. 54000+ > 43,307. That little symbol in the middle stands for "greater than". I know math is hard but I like to help the challenged.

Then once you actually understand facts maybe you will realize what Pollard, Campbell, and Prohm already know and rave about. iSu has some of the greatest most loyal fans in the country. Maybe you will realize that a few thousand empty seats is very common today...even against ranked teams that have a history of success

We're an ag school. What happens in October and November that doesn't in September?

What we need is enough fans in DSM to fill in for farmers as the season goes on

Bottom line is ISU must increase season tickets sales. That's the only way games like this sellout. ISU gets 5K more season tickets this game sells out easily. People with tickets in hand go to games. People without tickets in hand are less likely to go. Simple as that. They'll be thousands that buy tickets this week but the fact remains, increase season ticket sales and this problem goes away.

The only people that care if we have 61.5k vs 57k are those in **** measuring contests with iowa fans. I believe this will be the highest attended oct/nov game in the history of isu football. Give it a rest.
Drinking already? Your tailgating game is strong.

Maybe your local seed rep will fill in for a day. If they really want your business they need to go above and beyond. lol
