My point is it is a different year and their are different circumstances that can prevent people from attending. And you and others keep poo pooing them and making drama statements like "we don't deserve Campbell if we don't sell out." Or "it will be embarrassing if we don't sell out." Or "it is ridiculous if we don't sell out."

People making those statements are ignoring current college athletic attendance trends. They are ignoring how well iSu fans have supported their teams on gameday for years.

I am arguing that we aren't a bad fanbase if we don't sell out. I am arguing that I understand if fans, who have been kicked int he nuts for 40 freaking years, don't have the enthusiasm that you have. I understand fans who have been disappointed decade after decade, don't make it Saturday because they have had their hopes up many times before only to be crushed.

In the end...it won't matter. We will have 58,000+ in the stands. WE have already sold over 53,000 tickets(more than KSU last year) and this post and the worriers about the stadium not being full or looking full.

BTW- The fans that went to the KSU game last year...they saw a 3 win team that lost to UNI. you don't think some of those fans said F$%K it after last season? I know of one that sold his bus, and lowered donations. They usually brought 10-15 people to every game and this year have made two games. They have had season tickets for over 20 years.
Good stuff here...how many out there were going oh crap when TTech was driving for a score to cut the lead from 11 to 4 in the 4th quarter? They were putting on the ISU nut cups and then bam, pick-6! Different team...different coach...different result.

As for KSU...I for one hope that Campbell is actually Van Helsing in disguise and puts a final stake in the vampires heart.

Hey, look...this guy gets it.

A lot of those people that bought tickets when Rhoads was here...Thought the same thing in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. They thought...we have a great coach, he is turning the program around. We just beat the #2 team in the country we have turned the corner. Then they got kicked in the teeth with 11 wins in 4 years.

And people here wonder why they aren't jumping on board yet? Really?

No he doesn't. He was factually incorrect.

Since folks aren't paying for road games, it's probably as much the home record as the overall record. 6 home league wins in the last 5.5 seasons, and 3 of those were against Kansas.
2017 - 2-2 (UNI, Kansas)
2016 - 2-4 (San Jose, Texas Tech)
2015 - 3-3 (UNI, Kansas, Texas)
2014 - 1-6 (Toledo)
2013 - 1-5 (Kansas)
2012 - 3-4 (Tulsa, Western Illinois, Baylor)
9 home wins in the last five years...and people are ragging our fanbase if more than 55K don't show up. SMH.

Forecast now calling for a high of 43 and ... snow showers! Love it when the southern teams get a taste of the midwest! Hoping Campbell has the team practicing outdoors and getting acclimated to the temps this week.

I mean it's pretty obvious this isn't like Rhoads. Campbell has this team playing well week in and week out. Rhoads also never started out 5-2. A Rhoads team would get a big win then take the next 2 weeks off by losing 68-27, 52-0 or whatever. I don't know how the casual fan can't see it.

We're an ag school. What happens in October and November that doesn't in September?

What we need is enough fans in DSM to fill in for farmers as the season goes on

Largest school is the Business College now. The Ag school excuse doesn't work, BUT I agree, we need more support from the DSM area.

Lol no it doesn't.
sure it does. iSu has around 50,000 very loyal fans. Fans that are more loyal than just about any fanbase. What iSu has to do is get the casual fan, the fence sitting fan, the fan that is waiting for consistent winning. The fan that has been kicked in the nuts for decades that isn't as vested.

Which is the part I bolded and enlarged and wa referring to. Hence the reason I bolded it and enlarged it

How many of those business majors end up in Ag Businesses? Judging by the job fair...quite a few

Bottom line is ISU must increase season tickets sales. That's the only way games like this sellout. ISU gets 5K more season tickets this game sells out easily. People with tickets in hand go to games. People without tickets in hand are less likely to go. Simple as that. They'll be thousands that buy tickets this week but the fact remains, increase season ticket sales and this problem goes away.
$199 for a season ticket in the upper corners...no donation required...$33 and change a game.

What late October/November games were we selling out under Rhoads? Especially at 61.5k. I'll hang out up and listen!

Losing?

It’s a factor, but plenty of farmers in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas etc go to games in October and November when winning is expected and the importance of that program goes up. Not all, of course, but the numbers go up significantly, particularly when measured by tickets sold and ultimately used. Anecdotal, but in the early 2000s I knew close to the same number of farming families that made the 3 hour trip to Iowa City as I did Cyclones that would drive the hour to JTS.

As winning happens and ISU football raises in personal importance, more sacrifices get made. Back in the 1990’s it didn’t take much at all for there to be an obstacle too large to get around.

But yes...even a game against a ranked opponent when the team is in contention for a playoff spot...TCU didn't sell out. They were 2000 short and 10,000 short of what we put in the stands every home game
That was before their renovation that changed seating.

I would know because I grew up in high school as a TCU fan. Their old stadium style had a lot of room for standing space.

Going to the ticket master site, there is still a lot left. Section H, which are good seats still has about 950 tickets left. The small section next to it none of them are sold. Were these two sections TCUs allotment?
