Empty seats coming out of half

You cheer and pay full attention to the game 100% of the time? Kudos to you. If fan support won ball games, ISU wouldn't be in a 5 year bowl drought and constantly fighting their way out of the cellar.

Then, pray tell, why is it disheartening to see a stadium only half full? I say fan attendance is important in several ways, you're arguing it makes no difference if only 30,000 showed up at Saturday's tCu game? Really?

Check out scenes from Saturday's oSu at wVu game. Pathetic attendance, sad. It was the first thing that drew my eye. But, maybe that's just me and others here wouldn't mind if we had crummy crowds like wVu had for the Cowboys.

Before this gets sidetracked to being a political thread. Let's go back to talking about ISU football. There are plenty of other political threads to continue this discussion in.

On the road...
Your money's worth was cheering on the Cyclones to victory over the second Top 5 team in a month . . . I would have thought. At least, one can assume you paid for tickets to watch football, or maybe you're willing to buy $750 tickets other times of the year when there are no games?

It's his money...

Of course it is. I am doing nothing more than attempting to apply peer pressure, even knowing it is a losing battle.

If I had enforcement power, I would not use it, because it is his money and his choice, but that does not mean the rest of us cannot gripe as we see fit.

So now, going to the lots for a beer is the same as not ever showing up? After hearing your POV, I get why anyone near you at the game would need a beer or two.

Was anyone else bothered by the different colors of cardinal and gold people had on during the game? I mean it looked really bad on TV. Some had the old red-yellow ISU gear, and others had the deep cardinal and gold ISU gear on and everything in between. We need people to wear the same style of ISU gear each game day otherwise we look bad on TV.

I really hope I don't need a sarcastic emoji.

Uh, guess I should point out that I have no enforcement power. More importantly, though, this is not the America of old.
It truly isn't. It would be great if casual daytime drinking around the office was perfectly acceptable like it was back in the day.

Agreed. We stood in the concession line til after the kick return. They need to raise the standard on the help because they were really slow.
Ditto. I ended up leaving the line and going back to my seat. There might still be people in line as busy as the concessions were.

At least my navy blue looked as great as ever.

I'm as big of a fan as anyone here, and I love having the option to grab a beer in the parking lot at halftime. If it makes me miss a couple minutes of the second half, so be it. Having that option is part of what makes Jack Trice so fun.
This is what is so confusing to me. For the first time in a very long time, ISU fans have a legitimate team and the fan attitude is still, "I'm fine with missing the game, I need some booze!"

Anyone else find that discouraging seeing all the empty seats to start the 2nd half. Sukup club and donor club on the 50 east side were basically empty, I use to go out and slam a few beers during the dreaded games but wanted to be in my seat as the noise level clearly helped, hopefully for the Okie State game everyone will do so as well. Not like they pat us down when coming in so just sneak 3 or 4 beverages in. #DillyDilly

Thais happens in every NFL stadium as well. It takes a while in the lines at concessions and bathrooms. Can't be helped unless everyone goes hungry and soils themselves for the sake of the team.

I said a couple minutes, not the whole game. Pretty big difference there. And yes, I am willing to miss a couple minutes to enjoy an ice cold beverage at half.

You keep saying "need" in reference to beer in an effort to portray anyone who leaves at halftime as an alcoholic. Stop. You don't know anyone you're trying to paint in that light, and you're coming off as a ****.

Between my wife and I we brought in about 9 beers, 40 jello shots and a bottle of Fireball. We were good for the game.

Why do most folks leave?

Another factor may be that this is the first year the NCAA is strictly enforcing the 20 minute half rule starting right at the end of the last play of the half. This is significantly reducing half time. People may be realizing that last year when they could go out and back in without missing a play or at the most just a few plays, but now they are missing the first drive. This may start to make people question their half time rituals, but there is definitely a learning curve. I personally have no problem with people choosing to do what they want with their tickets, I'm just stating that this could affect their halftime behavior.

Because there's enough time to leave, get to your vehicle, and drink a beer, before going back into the game and missing between zero and four plays at the beginning of the second half. Some people like the taste of beer. That doesn't make them alcoholics.
I understand this. It's the need to leave the stadium for the sake of beer in a short amount of time which makes them come off as alcoholics. In literally any other situation, the sentence, "I have ten minutes, I could probably finish a beer or two." sounds so asinine, you would have to ask the person to repeat themselves.

Folks keep talking about how "this is what makes JTS so great!". No, what made this halftime tradition great was the fact that the football team was garbage and you could afford to miss a few minutes for some, or the second half for others. I hope the football team culture continues down the path they've set forth this year. I also hope the fans realize and recognize this culture change and embrace it and actually want to be a part of it.
