Bare??? ISU made NCAA the tournament the past two seasons under Prohm on the backs of Hoiberg's players. Blaming Hoiberg is nonsensical at this point. Bare is what Hoiberg walked into after McDermott left. Give me a break.
I think he was being sarcastic.

I get the disappointment, but what do some of you really think? Prohm needs fired tomorrow?
If you honestly think, or want, Prohm fired tomorrow, then I want to hear from you. I'm curious.

You have to be really stupid to call for Prohms firing, especially with the Talent that he is bringing in. He is still a young coach and is learning. Everyone knew this year was going to be a dropoff, I think people are freaking out when they visually see how bad the drop off has been after Six years.

Stop blaming this on recruiting.. You have Jackson, Wig, Babb (not the best options compared to the last 2 years but).. They are options, but Prohm's offense is terrible. Much of this was covered up last year by the players he had. Defense has looked terrible, but hoping this improves and leads to offense...

He doesn't need fired but he's got to make some changes in his approach very quickly if he wants to keep this team invested and recruits interested.

So I guess this is officially the first game of the Prohm era. Not a good start with no Niang and Morris to make you look good.

I knew Prohm was a bad coach, but wow, just wow. He might be able to recruit high school kids but if this is the quality of transfers he's going to get we are in deep trouble.

What do you say? The real answer is that he needs some better basketball players. You can't say that though.
While I agree overall, I was hoping to see some “value added” from Prohm. I think we’re bad in terms of talent, but man, that was bad. So many fundamental, coachable mistakes. Young, DJ, Babb, Long (and even Lard next game) have been here long enough to play better than that.

I just need to remember even some of the best value-adders like Floyd and Kruger have bad teams. But damn, I doubt they had a team that ill-prepared.

Well, the bright side is that it cannot get worse. We have plenty of talent to be 2-0 right now. Maybe it was a couple of nights where the shots just weren't falling. We will see.

I’m concerned about Prohm’s comments about being tired of hearing about offense and how this team needs to play defense to lead to offense. That sounds like we can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

They lost 2 recruiting cycles. They should have 3 seniors (that were with the program 4 years) this year and 3 juniors. Prohm hurt himself chasing Malou.

Last years class and this years class are both very good based on ratings.

I cannot remember but I think most of Freds transfers were the sit out a year variety. They got a year in the system.

This year we have what 3 grad transfers gonna be a learning curve there.

Tonight sucked no doubt, will see what things look like end of December

Team wold have benefited greatly with an over seas tour of games in August

I’ve really been trying to stay positive... but a lot of this is just prohm being a bad coach... I hate to say it but any success prohm has is 100% due to hoiberg guys already being well coached. That recruiting class needs to run for their lives... guys a McDermott

I didn't see tonight.

But although Fred did a great job of getting talent to Ames, I don't think Fred has ever been accused of 'over coaching' or 'coaching up' players. In fact I'd say the opposite.

Fred's recruiting misses at the end. Letting off some of our targets to go with former assistants, and then waiting until late in the game to leave for the Bulls job didn't help. Prohm had his work cut out for him. That first year everyone was waiting to see what he could do with a stacked Iowa State team.

Feels like we turned a corner late last year, and of course with this years class. The current roster is IMHO a uninspiring soup full of guys that are last minute, short timers and some young guys that needed to be worked into the system more than thrown into the fire.

That is some of the price you pay for as much talent that was here the first two years.

This is exactly right. To his credit it would have been easy to throw the whole team under the bus. Not his style.

I was considered a sunshine pumper in the McDermott years and I am embarrassed and ashamed at what this ‘team’ showed us today. Beyond pathetic. Nobody can shoot or if they can they’re too damned afraid to, and I’m not sure which of those is worse. I am biting my tongue trying not to say worse.

They wouldn't beat Missouri, ever.

And UWM simply had better players. Just weird to see it.
