I'm excited for the game! Glad most of my friends and family can go. It's not the perfect scenario, but we are bowling!! Memphis was a blast last time not to mention timing and cost is more feasible for a lot of fans.

The whining on here is sad.

To put this in perspective:

Am I excited that the boys are in a bowl game? Absolutely! Congrats to the team, staff, and everyone who contributed to a surprisingly successful season! Proud to be a Cyclone and thouroughly enjoyed the ride.

But after knocking off two top-five teams (one of which will likely be the national champion), numerous road wins, several one-score losses, and hearing that Clones vs. Notre Dame in Orlando was in play, Memphis at home is a bit of a letdown. (No disrespect to the Tigers...they’ve had a great season.) So please excuse those of us who don’t share the excitement. Doesn’t mean we’re any less “committed” or loyal to the Clones.

I’ve been to Memphis numerous times...in the summer and fall. It’s an ok destination. In the summer or fall. But I’m not into partying or blues music, have already been to Graceland, and I do a pretty good job with my own bbq. 40-degree games are ok at The Jack...they’re just not my idea of an enjoyable bowl game experience. So I’m saving my $ for San Antonio (or better) next year.

For those of you going, have fun, cheer hard, and celebrate responsibly!

Cyclone. Power.

I don't think Iowa St attendance will be that great. Less than last time I think.

I hope it's as good or better than last time, but agree that I think it won't be as good of a turnout. I wish I could go, but doesn't fit in with my travel plans for NYE.

Dang, came to thread expecting excitement and see everyone ********. I hate that our fans always play the victim card. Refs out to screw us, conference wants to keep us down. Hawk fans and Jayhawk fans don't respect us. On and on. Enjoy this. Please.

Who on here is playing the “victim card”?
Example, please.

I’ll say this as the voice of a lot of fans here. For the most part, it isn’t the fact that we’re playing Memphis or the fact that we’re playing in Memphis, but playing Memphis IN Memphis is what has people so upset. Yes, there are the select few people standing on the edge of the cliff who think playing Memphis is the worst draw imaginable, which it isn’t. Make no mistake, we will have a ton of fans there. The announcer talking points will note that we are playing an essential away game, but if we show up as fans, they will rave about “while Memphis is playing at their home field, the number of Iowa State fans that made the trip from Iowa is absolutely incredible and the fan support is second to none.” Lastly, we win, it goes in the record book as a win over a #20 ranked team. Doesn’t matter which conference they’re from, top 25 is top 25 so long as we don’t knock them out.

We can't go, we've got family commitments bookending the days surrounding the game.

But given Beale Street probably has no great appeal to locals, who will be dining and sleeping at their homes, this is set up to be the most overwhelming invasion of Cyclone faithful a town not named Kansas City has ever seen. It has potential to be the most home game feel to a road game in Cyclone history.

Do us proud Cy fans!

It's not as bad as everyone thinks. On a 1 to 5 ranking I give the following
Location 2
Date 4
Opponent 2.5
Affordability 5

Location 3
Date 5
Opponent -10
Affordability 5

I just can't get over playing Memphis in their home stadium. Feels like a road game, not a bowl game.
If it was Mizzou, and rebirth of the Telephone Trophy, then I would have been 100% in.

This is a lose lose situation. You beat Memphis and everyone says you should have, you lose to Memphis and all everyone sees is that you lost to a Mid-major and the end of the season was anti-climatic and dissapointing.

Here's to hoping we crush Memphis to end the season on a high note.

How many of the people complaining about this bowl game had us even going 6-6 before the UNI game? How many had us beating OU in Norman? How many had us beating TCU at home after OU (supposedly) sleeping on us? It is another game, another challenge, and I expect ISU to meet the challenge head on and win. I hope we strike fast and big and a lot of Memphis fans go home at halftime. But whatever happens, I am so happy that ISU is in this bowl game and am confident that they will play the best game they can. I will be having surgery right before the game and will not be able to go, but will be rooting hard for them while recovering.
