The Reddit comments from PSU fans are infuriating, talking about how he can run the ball AND catch passes. Yeah, that's what a running back does you ******* morons, that doesn't make you versatile. In that regard Lanning can defend the run AND the pass, SO VERSATILE!
How do you know it's a joke if you don't watch football outside of Iowa State?

Barkley shouldn't have even been first team all Big10, as JK Dobbins >>>Barkley. Barkley was way overhyped. If I had to rank RBs in the Big 10 I would want on my team, he would come after Taylor,Dobbins, Higdon, and probably Jackson from NW. This is the media justifying its own hype.
Bummer Joel didn't win. However, I'm not going to be a like a Hawkeye fan and stomp my feet and complain because one of our players didn't win an award that they deserved....

Maybe you don't understand, he ran the ball as a running back AND RETURNED KICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is complete insanity, a running back caught the ball after it had been kicked and then ran really fast with it. The game will never be the same.
Well if you think this sucks you should have been there when Troy Davis ran for back to back 2000 yard seasons and was also the Big XII leading rusher yet got beat out for the Doak Walker award by Byron Hanspard of TTU.
Time to start a Joel Lanning award for the most versatile and selfless player in college football.
It’s called an exaggeration. I don’t like watching other teams and don’t very much. Also it isn’t like you really have to watch the games if you know what each does. There aren’t Ironman players anymore. That is what this award is for so when you have only one in all of college football it isn’t hard.
