Tommy did a lazy job reporting this news. How many edit's/changes have we seen?
The way I take it is, is that Tommy took the opportunity to break this story because it was such a "what if" at this point and no one knew what was going on. He took the opportunity to get some huge attention and ran with the opportunity for breaking this news.

This. Don't go playing the victim card when you are responsible for your own actions. He let his team down by choosing to smoke pot. He was the one who ended up getting his girlfriend pregnant. Then he throws us under the bus?

Looks to me like he missed two meetings with Cambell and Coach finds out he wants a release when he is out recruiting. Talk about not manning up and taking responsibility for your own actions. I hope he gets things figured out sooner then later,

I was a big fan of his and was hoping he would still be around the program in some capacity. I'm all about second chances, but he needs to look himself in the mirror and start owning some of his issues or get professional help. He has a young one to think about and become a role model for so hopefully he mans up before things spiral out of control. Good luck to him!

He kind of threw her under the bus as well when he said that "living with the mother of his child" was one of his reasons to blaze up. Things might be a little chilly on the home front after that quote.

It's an odd set of circumstances all the way around. I'm sure he figured he'd sit out his one game, we'd get our ass handed to us in Norman, and everyone would be pounding on the table for him to get back on the field. Unfortunately for him, his replacement went and won the biggest game in program history and while there was always debate, it was no longer cut and dried that the team was better with him on the field. Noland's emergence added another layer between him and the starting job. I'm not on twitter but would have to assume a message board would be a decent indicator of what was being said, and for the most part, he had a great deal of support from people that went well beyond worrying about his football prowess. I have no doubt that there were anonymous a-holes spouting off, but the majority of what I saw was very supportive. If anything the whole thing was shrouded in silence and left people wondering more than sniping.

I can see him transferring and not wanting to spend his last year being a backup. If he hadn't chosen the matches and gas can method of departure, I have no doubt that he would have had almost nothing but well wishes from this fan base. Saying we didn't support him blah blah blah isn't going to get him any sympathy on the way out and I have to think there are some awkward moments to come if he has to stick around another semester to graduate.

And my final "get off my lawn" moment...Jake, it's time to grow up. You got a girl pregnant and are stressed out. Wow, there's something nobody has ever had to go through before! The only difference is that most college kids that go through it don't have private tutors to help with their school work and access to meals and everything else they can imagine through a D1 football program. They have a helluva lot more to worry about than lifting and blowing off meetings with their coach. If you're having trouble being a father now, just wait until you have to be a dad. For the sake of that child, her mother, and yourself, you better find a much better coping mechanism than dope and blaming others. If you think the world is cruel now, just wait until you're not a star QB anymore.

Good luck to you.

Odd quote...

“Everybody says these fans are so loyal, right?” Park said. “Like, they were the first ones to turn on me. I got to witness this from a whole other perspective that most of you never get to witness.”

Yeah. It's too bad he feels that way (assuming everything being reported is accurate). Other than the usual collection of social media idiots and trolls I got the the impression that the fanbase and people around the program had been pretty supportive. Good luck to him wherever he goes. Hell of an arm talent; could be great if he can put it all together upstairs.

I'm torn on the whole thing. On one hand, I completely agree on the need to be supportive. These are relatively young people just getting started in life. They won't be perfect. I'm sure they have many of the same vices and insecurities many of us had at that age, and probably still have. It's just they have a spotlight many of us have never experienced.

However, on the other hand, as supporters of Iowa State, I do think we are entitled to be upset if the team and it's coaches are unnecessarily disparaged. I struggle to believe a lot of what was said in that article is true. Stanz has been on record as having seen him at the facility recently. Campbell doesn't strike me as the type of person to not at least attempt to communicate with a player regarding his status with the team. It just doesn't make sense.

In any event, he can move on. Thanks for your efforts, and I hope he finds what he is looking for. I suppose we just have to take the digs with a grain of salt.
Exactly how I feel. I won't wish any I'll will on him but I sure as hell won't sit here and wish him the best if what he is saying isnt the truth.

Don't disagree. The problem is that there has been changes in the verbiage and extra content that has been added to the article. Why would anyone publish an article if there was that many lose ends and lack of input from the other side...

Campbell obviously was willing to give him another chance, but Park wanted it on his terms. In the end, he just didn't want to compete.
Best of luck to him. He'll probably go south. Like the Thundering Herd of Marshall.

Because it's more important to be first than it is to be right. As I read the report it has a ready, fire, aim feel to it.

Well said. I've been rooting for Park's return this entire time, all the while hoping he'd get everything figured out both on and off the field for his sake. If anything, I've felt our entire fan-base has mostly been of the same mindset. Talk about a kick in the nuts now as he heads out the door. Apparently, another coping mechanism for him is blaming everyone else for his problems as well, even some it seems that are trying to help. I hate to break it to you kid, but you've got a long and lonely road ahead of you unless you truly do some introspective analysis of yourself. I truly hope you do and come out the better for everything in the end. I still believe you have NFL talent, and would love nothing more than to see you realize that potential still some day. Just wish it was at ISU.

Sounds like a classic "its everyone's fault but mine". Take some responsibility for your actions. I was a parent of a newborn in college too. Sure its hard. But with all of the help and support that would have been available to him through the university and football program its not like he was left on his own and weed was his only choice to get him through it. Then he gets suspended for ONE game and disappears for the rest of the season, doesnt show up to meetings with the coach, no one of us loyal fans ready to crown him an ISU legend if hed just put his head on straight and use his God-given talent has any idea what happened to him. But its his girlfriends fault and his kids fault and the coaches fault and the fans fault.

Best of luck Jake, hope you get your issues figured out and regardless of if you ever play another snap stop self-medicating, put your big boy pants on, and take care of your family.

I understand, but I have a problem with everyone pointing at a message board as the reason for his comments. I'm not sure I even believe that message boards is what he has a problem with, but if it is then he won't be able to play anywhere that is high profile in any way. I guarantee you it will be as bad or worse anyplace else. No fan base will look good when looking at the lowest common denominator that is social media.
Agree just saying certain posters and likely some of the big donors can and should change their attitude on that type of stuff. Those post don’t even come close to being a reason for what he is doing.

I don't think the method that Park took is going to help him with transferring. Coaches will talk to Campbell about Park and this isn't going to leave Campbell with a lot of good things to say. A team will need to be pretty desperate to deal with this crap for a quality QB.

Waggoner-We have the best fans in the country who always make Saturday’s special! You’ve NEVER abandoned us for a second. This senior year has been special because of your support

Lanning-You can't disrespect the fans that are loyal to everyone no matter what the circumstances are

Morrisey-narcissism and ones own selfish actions can be a personal downfall. The team is / was / and will be way better off without that negativity. Keep leading young buck!
To add on I saw Harris tweet out that even after he grad transferred, cyclone fans continued to cheer for him and wish him luck at his games.

My next question is why go to the press now? He said he has one more class this spring at ISU then will graduate and transfer. He has had a lot of time since the Texas game to call out the ISU team and fans but chose to now (only a few weeks removed from praising ISU fans and the team on Twitter). Something happened, specifically in the last few days, that made him have such thoughts about the team and fans. I hope it comes out what happened that he decided to drag ISU down on his way out the door.

Not sure why so many posters are upset that Birch took the story and ran with it. It's his freakin job! If his boss at the DMR knew he had that info first and didn't break the story, Tommy would have been in deep ****. Of course the article has been edited numerous times! This isn't out of the ordinary when a situations is as fluid as this one has been.
