ISU heads to Oklahoma this weekend for a pair of duals against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The coaches haven't tipped their hand about which of Simmons or Parker will be moving up. The lineup lists them both as "or"s at 133 and no one at 141. But my money is on Parker being the one to make the jump.

Here's ISU's release for the weekend

Friday Night's dual will be on Fox Sports Oklahoma (full list of channels can be found in the tweet) and Sunday's will be on FloWrestling.

Also worth noting that 165 has St. John or Jennings listed. No Brietenbach. Considering Jennings just beat St. John 8-0 last weekend I have to think he gets at least one if not both of the matches.

I think we are going to beat Oklahoma just by the way the team has performed lately and the mentality of the team changing. Seems like a determined group of individuals who are molding slowly to the way the staff desires. Might be a positive having negative vibes or even distractions we do not know about around the team anymore.

I think we win a very close dual tonight. They need to win at least one of the matches at 141 and Straw at 157 to have a chance.

Man Degen didn’t look right before he got headlocked and he certainly didn’t look right after.

For an update:

Briggs got pinned in short time
Simmons lost a close one...gave up the lead in the 3rd
Parker won a decision
Degen is currently getting worked (“currently” was relative...I was behind) - lost

First half thoughts.

- Simmons gave up a pretty cheap one in the 3rd. Looked like a lack of focus lead to it, IMO. He let up for a brief second and Oklahoma took advantage
- I love Parker’s pace. He is always moving. Did not look undersized compared to Oklahoma. Maybe a little in the legs, but not much. Kid is plenty strong too. Real good, gutsy win
- Oklahoma’s 149 is pretty long and lanky. Not as long as Degen, but pretty long. Degen just kept putting himself in bad spots and really got caught. Lucky he didn’t get pinned, but that headlock took a lot out of him
- Straw won by doing more than Oklahoma, which in my opinion wasn’t much. Oklahoma didn’t do anything for the majority of the match. Like Simmons, Straw had a Goettl moment, kind of let up on a shot and got taken down on a counter. Tough reversal from Straw late though, and he held on for the win
