Cool for Tech--them and TCU were the Big 12 teams I wanted to do well. It would be good for them to continue to be good. It means ISU needs to be that much better.

And I gotta admit Self did a great job with KU this year.

Was just fine with WV going down. Can't find the sense in those that complain all season about West Virginia's style of play and how awful it is to watch and then want them to win come March like it has something to do with Iowa State.

In 2002, 3 teams also made Elite 8. Only 2 times in history has a conference had more teams (4 both times) in the Elite Eight: 2016 ACC and 2009 Big East. This is the 21st time a conference has had 3 or more teams in the Elite 8, but the 6th straight year it has happened.

Oh that's right I totally forgot about 2002 -- plus two teams in Final Four (KU and OU) ... and only time so far that a 12 seed reached Elite 8 (Mizzurah, which beat 8 UCLA, which ousted 1 seed Cincy). Did I remember all that correctly?

It is important to note the Big 12 has 3 out of 10 in the elite out. Not 1 out of 14 like the Big 10 or 2 out of 15 like the ACC. I actually heard the KXNO guys (Chris and Ross)Friday afternoon kind of mention what a good tournament the Big 10 was having based on their record. I think they were 6-2 at the time of the conversation. That is ridiculous. That is like saying one league has one team in the tournament and it won all of it's games, it went 6-0. Hey look how good that league was, they are 6-0. I'm sorry, but a conference that gets 6 teams in for example, and goes 6-6 is better than the one league that goes 6-0. Plus you have to look at who you beat to get there. The Big 10 had just one single digit seed win. The Big 12 has 5 single digit wins. For those guys to have that type of conversation is misleading. But hey, they have to feed the monster, their hawkeye fan listeners.

Who would have thought that K-State is the Big12 team favored to get to the Final Four. That game with Loyola should be an ugly one.

It's tough to feel bad for WV but the refs decided that game, at one point Nova was in the double bonus with only 2 fouls called on them. They never figured anything out, the refs just started calling everything and Nova hit their FT's while Tech had to sit guys due to foul trouble. The foul issue highlighted WV's biggest weakness this year, depth, they depended on too many young guys that didn't consistently step up. It definitely cost them tonight, Nova only made their runs when WV had to sit their starters.

Not sure why this was a surprise. This is what we talk about all conference season long. The officials who work the Big 12 games let WVU get away with their garbage strategy and then they don't get that same treatment in the tournament games. How many times when we play against WVU do we look up and see that we've been called for more fouls than WVU has? In the meantime, our guys get mugged any time they get near the lane whether they have the ball or not and we're not allowed to play physical against them on the defensive end because the officials know that isn't our "style" of play.

Same thing usually goes for KU - they get their special treatment throughout the year but then get locked down by the officials in the tournament. Thus far this year they've just simply been that much better than their opponents that they haven't needed the benefit of the officials.

5 fouls to none right now. What it should look like in Big 12 games with WVU.

WVU played a great game, but they were officiated well and thus didn't get that officiating boost the get from incompetent "even it up" refs. Still they played great and it was a good game to watch until Nova just beat them because they're better at putting the ball through the hoop.

You can definitely argue WVU was underseeded and OKState got screwed being left out with two wins over KU and a good finish in clearly the best conference in the nation. The rest of our teams were probably correctly seeded, given how strong the conference looks you could maybe make a case that Baylor was better than several teams that got in. I'd probably put OK State in and Baylor in the PIG. 8-10 in this league probably should have meant dancing.

Well, I would say Villanova's defense had something to do with it too - maybe the best in the country.

Nova’s definitely a well rounded team, I just mean with WVU there always comes a time they struggle to score in half court. You could tell Wright was relieved to get out with the W in post game, his team was just better at getting the ball in the hoop even though it was more of a struggle than they’re used to.

I agree - they had trouble with Providence in the Big East this year too - who plays just like West Virginia.

David Hogg looks, talks, and acts like most of the male Kansas Jayhawk fans/boosters I have ever had to endure. Should have a photo of him in encyclopedia next to entry for "Jayhawk Fan" although I know he is very coastal.

I saw a KU fan on ESPN arguing with Duke fans that Duke isn’t a blue blood because to be a blue blood requires a direct link to KU and Naismith. They’re probably the most arrogant group in any area, not just sports.

Just driving recently and had ESPN radio on. Their Saturday show was basically just promoting the NBA via the NCAA and whining about how the Elite Eight is missing NBA prospects like Trae Young so it's less interesting.

Nobody pointed out that sometimes good team basketball with marginal talent can be more interesting than a one and done playing optional defense and playing horse as soon as he gets across half court.
