Dresser is going to have a lot of pressure on him over the next several years. If Bono and Reader make Wisky a national contender, all of us Cyclone fans that wanted Bono and Reader over Dresser and Zadick will be asking questions.

I do think Dresser and Zadick will get it done, but the pressure on them will be high, as it should be.

Not sure if Zadick wants to be a head coach or not, but SDSU would be a lot closer to Montana too. I think losing Zadick would be worse for ISU than losing Dresser would be. But that's just my dumb opinion.

Based off what I have been told, yes absolutely.
Please tell. Just searched public records and Bono made 130k in 2016 at SDSU. If Zadick makes that much, it would put him close to the top assistants in the sport and I’d argue he’s overpaid.

You realize that based on his past history, Dresser was one of the best we could of got at the current time. And if you compare both coaches at the time, what made Bono a better hire? Nothing, Dressers resume wins hands down. It's always easy to critize if things don't work with a coach but you hire a coach based on his resume not what ifs.

I understand Dresser's resume was better, yes. Pollard made the correct hire based on resume's, for sure.

I just wanted Bono and Reader on mostly a gut feeling. Also liked that they were Cyclones obviously too. But I also like Bono's hands on style better too. Dresser himself said he's mostly a hands off "office guy" who just handles the fund raising, marketing, etc aspects and leaves the actual coaching up to Zadick, Metcalf, and St. John. That has worked for him, and I hope it does at ISU too. I just like Bono's style better, and his passion.

As good as Bono did as SDSU, it wasn’t even close to the level that Dresser had VT at. And you take away his one Hawk transfer and it doesn’t really look that great.
Exactly my point, you hire a coach off resume not feeling. And I'm tired of hiring coaches, just because they went to Iowa state. No, you hire a coach that deserves to be hired not because he's an alumni.

I'm not a big Zadick fan. If he makes $130K we are doing it wrong. That said this isn't about making a fan like me happy this is about winning.

Bono wasn't at SDSU even close as long as Dresser was at VT so your comparison makes little sense. Your claim that he was not successful outside of Gross (so let's not count Gross's accomplishments?) is wrong. They finished ahead of Okla State at nationals this year.

The Big 10 pretty much owns two sports right now - wrestling and women's volleyball.

Pollard/Bono - I have a hard time believing Wisconsin`s AD did not discuss him with Pollard before hiring Bono.

Unless Wisconsin is in as big a hole as ISU's wrestling program, Bono could easily have success faster than Dresser does here.

I was all for giving Jackson time after Cael abandoned the program. With my 20-20 hindsight, ISU made a mistake hiring a guy whose cooaching experience was at the international level. He was used to guys who were already committed to being their best. Now he had to recruit and had to drive young kids to be their absolute best. Thats just not him. Other than Kyven, his national champs here were already to that point. Kyven had a special drive for his senior year after his father died that put him over the top.

The point is when you want to compare Bono and Dresser’s accomplishments, Dresser wins. It’s undebateable.

huh?

San Diego-to-Butte, Mt for example is roughly a 17-hour drive--the same as Ames-to-Butte

~BTN cable subscribers (the ones who pay their monthly bills) provide an influx of cash to the B1G.... unlimited$$, to sustain minor sports and recruit. The only reason the BIg 10 dominates wrestling

The Badgers were very competitive before Davis arrived. Barry really hasn't set the world on fire up there. He kept the program middle of the pack. He was retained for years because of his relationship with AD Barry Alvarez, where both were @ the U of Iowa together in the 1980's

Huh? BTN is the only reason that the B1G dominates wrestling?

Let me guess, not a wrestling fan?

I've been following ISU wrestling probably before you were born. Do you realize how much money the BTN generates, in addition to their revenue sharing system?

Why doesn't KU, KSU, Texas Tech, etc have wrestling? ...

Iowa has had double the athletic budget for ages, until recently-- vs ISU. Heck in the 80's U of Iowa gave Christine Grant and Field Hockey coach an open checkbook to recruit out of state players, where they were a top-5 program for years. They basically 'bought' a field hockey team..... in the matter a 2-3 years out of thin air

I don’t get what anything you posted has to do with BTN?

KU, KSU, TT all didn’t have wrestling long before the BTN existed. What does it have to do with anything?

The Big 10 was also the best wrestling conference long before the BTN. The big 12 used to be more competitive, but was hurt recently by the fall of ISU/Oklahoma and Missouri leaving (for the mighty MAC dollars).
