Testifying
Bowls are a different animal in that they are often 6+ weeks after the season is over. My perception is that Iowa's November record under Ferentz is pretty good but I've done zero research. I do know last year they beat the tar out of Ohio State and Nebraska at the end of last year and won their bowl game. They had two losses but both to bowl teams including Wisconsin.

So what your evidence Iowa is behind the times? The latest and greatest thing in football training is the GPS stuff and Doyle was one of the earliest adopters. Recruits talk about their S&C program all the time. Also, they had a couple of 2 star recruits earn consensus AA honors last season. What are your supporting points?
You do know that Nebraska was incredibly awful last year right? Losing only by 2 to Penn State with how Barkley was dominating is more impressive to me, as odd as that sounds, than beating Nebraska.

I would hope he'd have a decent November record when you play in the Big Ten West. I forgot you were a Hawkeye fan and I'm not sure how I forgot that since you make it clear on the wrestling forums.

That being said best of luck to Jack. He seems like a good football player and a good kid

So your supporting point to your claim that Iowa's S&C program has no respect and is outdated is "I don't like Iowa"? Good Lord that is dumb.

The board claim that I'm an Iowa fan is based on me realizing early on that Kevin Jackson was a bad college wrestling coach. So any claim that I'm an Iowa fan is basically a claim that KJ was a good coach. Sigh. I'm not an Iowa fan, though I don't have blind hatred of them, and I was spot on.

Not at all the point.

You're an Iowa troll I'm not stupid. I'm sure Iowa's bowl opponents the last decade appreciate Doyle and I'm sure Josey Jewell still loves him despite his awful combine numbers too. News flash, for the most part players love their coaches regardless how good they are.

Iowa looks slow and weak in bowl games, if you want to tout Doyle and look stupid to ahead but you're just butthurt I'm right

I mean how can you look at Iowa's recent bowl games and say that S&C coach gets them better for the end of the year lol

Looks like a good one went the other way. The thing is that Campbell and his guys are probably after 4-5 guys that have similar abilities. It is just the way they operate. Iowa does it different and won this battle.

Unfortunately, until ISU can string together 3-4 solid seasons with bowl games at the end, they are going to be hard pressed to sway kids that grew up Hawk fans. Give credit to CMC for going after a highly ranked in state guy that was pretty set on the Hawks in the beginning. Just need to recruit without fear, and eventually more of these recruits will come to Ames.

First his methods are outdated. Evidence? Evidence is contrary. Damn. Time to move the goal posts.

He grinds them down through the year. Evidence? Iowa generally plays well at the end of the season. Damn. Time to move the goal posts.

But Iowa is bad in bowl games! You may have finally set them are the right spot. It isn't bowl prep. It isn't game planning. Its clearly S&C! Keep moving those goalposts.

Nevermind Iowa famously builds underrecruited players into good football players. Josie Jewell didn't put up big combine numbers!? Nevermind Iowa was his only offer out of HS and ended up a consensus AA. Nevermind Iowa puts a ton of players into the NFL and they credit the guy to a man. Ignore it all--Iowa doesn't show up for bowl games and that's evidence he's considered crappy and out if touch around the country.

All the BS on this board spewed anytime someone doesn't wear ISU blinders is pathetic. The perception that ISU fans are Kool aid drinkers is alive and well in this thread.

I say his methods are outdated because Iowa was a good program in the 2000s and now has what, one top 25 finish in the last decade? Maybe it's not him and maybe it's recruiting or Ferentz I don't know. I could see how you could argue it's not his fault but I'm not just throwing stuff against the wall there

Iowa generally plays well at the end of the season? Have you been living under a rock for a decade Iowa gets it's doors blown off the last game of the season every year

I just worry about Twins. MC really wanted this guy. So to not only lose him to the bad guys, but to lose him to the bad guys specifically because of Doyle... of course it hurts.

I’m sure they’ll be fine. They’ve lost out on better recruits than Jack Campbell and won games with their replacements. I doubt they are too distraught losing a 3 star LB. Besides, I think he may be better suited for the Big 10. Probably need a better coverage guy at Mike in the Big 12. Lanning struggled with that. And ISU has better DE prospects on their board.
