It puts a lot of stress on a pitcher who struggles to throw strikes and relies on swings at balls out of the zone to get outs.

Agree with the bolded, disagree with the unbolded. There are plenty of ways to get outs by throwing strikes

Agreed. But Edwards is a strikeout pitcher. Sure he can get outs with weak contact off his fastball, but he is hunting Ks and when you have the bases loaded, it stresses his approach.

Didn't even watch the game but the box score says it all:

11 K's
2 walks
out hit Atlanta 8 to 7 but gave up 7 walks to them
Edwards blows it in a high pressure situation

McCarthy went 6 innings for just the 2nd time in 9 starts tonight giving up just 1 run and striking out a season high 8. It's frustrating how this offense can light it up 1 night then make a mediocre pitcher look like Cy Young the next. This was even one of Chatwood's better statistical outings too. The bullpen for the most part has done it's job so far. The main relievers Strop, Duensing, Cishek, and Wilson have got guys out when called on. Edwards up until lately was in that group too. Montgomery and Butler are good long relievers to clean up short outings by starters but they have been either lights out or a little iffy at times.

The starting pitching and inconsistent offense has been the surprising weakness so far. Cubs currently have the 5th best pitching staff in the NL statistically but they have had the 3rd most walks and have the 5th worst for quality starts. Surprisingly the Cubs have the 2nd best offense in the NL, 4th best BA, 2nd best OBP but seems like so far most of that production is bloated by some blowout games against weaker teams since they sit 8th in the NL in Win %.

I wouldn't say this is all that surprising. The offense was pretty inconsistent for a lot of stretches last year too. Yeah, I know they were at or near the top of runs scored but there were a lot of games that it seemed like they would score less than 3 and a lot of game they would score double digits and not a lot of games in between

Any other Vue subscribers having issues with the NBC Chicago stream? One minute it will be working flawlessly, the next the picture will get choppy and produce a brief green/static screen. Haven't had this issue on any other channels.
