Mexico looking good against Germany. Chucky puts them up 1-0. They're hitting Germany hard on the counter.

They earned the first half lead with aggressive counter attacks and held on creating problems all the way.

A little bitter but mostly happy for my friends who are celebrating now.

The shot of the crowd watching at the Brandenburg Gate with the small pocket of El Tri fans going nuts in the middle of massive amounts of stone-faced Germans is awesome.

Mexico x Germany was a great game. Mexico has to do a better job on offense, the amount of chances that they missed to kill that game was insane.

Now let’s go Brazil!!! Time to win that sixth title!

I've been impressed with the refs so far. Not getting sucked in to theatrics of players going down to draw a penalty.

Part of it is knowing you've got VAR to take a second look at stuff you might miss or let go. There have been a couple penalties given where refs have not called a foul on the field, but have changed their mind after the VAR official told them to check replay. It at least takes a little pressure off of the center ref to make a call immediately when he might not be sure what happened.

That Mexico vs. Germany was so fun to watch. To those that find soccer boring, that match had excitement the whole time IMO, and yes it was a 1-0 final.

It was just back and forth with Mexico getting run outs all day long. Very fun to watch. Glad Mexico won.

I thought these first few days were as good as we could have asked for. Intriguing results, some people under performing, and some over-performing. There is nobody, other than maybe Belgium and Russia, who played like they were expected to. If this is how fun the group stages are, idk how I'll handle the knockout rounds haha

My home country of Panama did not do so well on their first match. :(

I'll have to say, though, our defense looked pretty good in the first half. I think the Belgian coach must have had a few words with the ref at halftime. All of a sudden yellow cards started raining on Panama in the second half. I think that made us less physical on defense from there on out.

I wouldn't put too much stake in allowing Belgium to do that to you. They can attack with the best of them, and turn it from zero to 100 real quick.

I was really impressed by Panama in the first half.

If De Bruyne and Lukaku get rolling like that, Belgium will give a lot of teams fits. Panama looked solid in the first half, but lost their composure and had some sloppy first touches as the match went on. One team had confidence and the other's waned.
