The safety against the Hawks in the 2002 comeback. It was the loudest I've ever heard ISU fans in Kinnick.

Storming the field in '98 when we broke the streak.

Shaggy's game-winning kick in '07 will always be up there too.

I missed the '05 game, but watching Lamarcus Hicks return the interception for a touchdown was sweet on TV.

Yes. Surreal is the best way to describe it. I remember thinking before the game we were going to put a beat down on them so the score at the half was very hard to stomach. Consequently, you adjust your expectations and then before you know it, up in that corner upper deck section, we have something to cheer about seemingly nonstop. It kept building and building. It was madness. 29 straight points! ...the way it should have been after all.

I was also in Kinnick in 2002.

That was surreal.

'02 comeback in 3rd quarter....standing in the student section after all of the crap they gave us the 1st half......and watching the Iowa fans "fade" out of the stadium. The only fans left were a couple of respectable Iowa fans behind us. I can't believe everyone leaving only behind by 5 points.

'05 23-3: L. Hicks' interception.

'01 Runk interception

ISU has a 4-1 record against Iowa in games I attended so I have a lot of good memories but I'll try to narrow it down.

One moment I haven't seen mentioned (edit: uhh, until just above this post...) happened in '00 at my first game in Kinnick. We had a group of 10 or so Cyclone fans that kind of found each other in Iowa's student section and were already getting crap thrown at us. First play from scrimmage JJ Moses takes an end around 50 some yards for a TD. That only led to more crap being thrown at us but I had a pretty good feeling things were going to turn out ok.

My only other game at Kinnick was the '02 comeback that was also memorable because I was so despondent at halftime only have everything come together in the 2nd half. I really enjoyed that all week people talked about Bob Sanders knocking Seneca out of the game. Guess that didn't work out quite like they thought...

I just watch the You Tube 2002 hi-lites...what makes that game even more special is Pete Taylor. Obviously, he passed way too early...but I'm so thankful he got to call/witness this game. The joy in his voice is almost emotional.

I have been at every ISU / Iowa game in person since 1996 and here is my top 5 moments.

1) Walking out of Kinnick in 2002. Night game, lots drunk, overconfident Hawk fans stunned. I've never seen anything like it.

2) Darren Davis running for 220+ at Kinnick to break the streak. Sending Hayden out with a loss.

3) The 23-3 beat down in the heat.

4) The Grant Steen play.

5) Meyer to Bates.

Perfect top 5

The look on the squawkeye fans faces coming out of the stadium in iowa city when the scoreboard read: Earle Bruce 31 & Bob Commings 0.....

Boys now that was a real football game!!!

Come back in '02. Ruined the National Title run!

Nobody knew it at the time in 2002.

But in 2005, Iowa was #8 and planning a national championship run behind their Heisman Trophy candidate QB until their fans saw that they actually sucked.

What's your favorite memory - something rather specific.

I have to say that it was watching the droves of iowa fans walking out of the Jack in '05 when we laid them out 23-3. And then seeing the video of it on the jumbo-tron.

Second would probably be Seneca's 3rd down and 11 rollout pass to Whitver, on our own 5 in '02.

Third would be JJ's end around for a TD in '00 (??)

I was sitting in that endzone, about 30 ft away from Seneca when he made that throw. Hearing the "let's go state" chant in Kinnick was amazing. That alone is why I keep going back there by any means possible for the big game.

Hmmm lots of good memories from this past decade. Here are my top three.

1. 07 Final drive completed by Shaggy's FG! Never been so nervous at an ISU game.

2. Drew Tate throwing a pick and then getting knocked out "trying" to make a tackle. The rest was history.

3. 2002 comeback. Unbelievable game!

This is still my all time favorite. I hope it happens again this weekend!

YouTube - Iowa State vs Iowa 2002 Part 1

I can actually be seen in the replay of the 3rd and 11th catch in the endzone on field level. I was wearing my high school football jersey (i was still in high school) as I felt it was good luck, and if you look very closely you can see a guy wearing a purple #53 jersey throw his arms up. Awesome!

How about 2001...Pushed back to November the winner was going bowling, great game, sealed the victory with an Adam Runk INT with seconds left in the game. AMAZING

I liked the 2001 game as well, but my favorite was the INT by the obnoxious Iowa guy (forget his name) and the immediate strip of the ball and recovery by the Cyclones

That's not the same INT you are talking about is it?

Watching the celebration on the field at Kinnick in 1998 punctuated by Todd Bandhauer reminding Hayden that 'we kicked your ***'.

No - the obnoxious player you're thinking of is Grant "here's my middle finger" Steen. And I think it was Craig (??) Campbell who knocked the ball loose.

2000 game was sweet. I don't remember much as the hangover carried into Monday, when I had to call in sick.

2nd was 2005, and hands down 2002 was best ever. Here's an old snapshot, from my then-awesome 1MP DSC. Sorry the poor hawkeye fan in front is ruining my dynamic range.

I was at the wrong angle to see this, but I heard it from several people after the game, so I don't know if it really happened, but.....in 1981, in the first game back in Ames, Dwayne Crutchfield ran around left end and was going for a touchdown and gave Hayden the finger as he ran by the Hawkeye bench.
Anyway, based on the people I heard it from, I kind of think he really did it, but if not it still makes a great story!!
