They hired Jim Tressel from Youngstown State. He was a D-1AA coach, even if previously an assistant at Ohio State, when they brought him on-board.

I know the world has changed since 2001, but the idea that Ohio State would never hire from Iowa State (and Earle Bruce, anybody?) is not really sensible.

Everybody knows Campbell is a rising star, a Boy Scout, and a consummate Ohio boy.

We all know they can buy Campbell out easily, if they wanted to, too.

It has happened twice. Earl Bruce and Sam Willaman (the coach who brought Jack Trice to Iowa State) both left Iowa State for Ohio State.

And three head coaches have left Iowa State and soon won national championships: Earl Bruce, Johnny Majors, and Gene Chizik. Ames is the cradle of championship coaches.

I could see them going after Campbell. You would think they'd go for a bigger name, but stranger things have happened.

If it's true then I don't see how he stays on at OSU. But I guess if I learned one thing from the Sean Miller and Arizona basketball scandal that wasn't, it's that we should all take a step back and let a story like this breathe a little bit before we jump to conclusions.

Luke Fickell, Bo Pellini, Matt Campbell... Of course they could try to lure someone like Petersen or Dabo away but it seems like someone with Ohio or OSU ties is most likely.

I hear people saying that Ohio State would want a "big name," but so many of the big names are anchored squarely at other blue blood programs, and a lot of the guys being groomed for such positions (e.g., Frost, Herman, Fisher) just moved to new programs. Are they really going to be able to pry somebody like James Franklin or Kirby Smart away from their jobs? Unless somebody can give me some obvious names, then Ohio State would need to look for up-and-comers, and I doubt you can find a better one or a better fit than Campbell.

If the allegations against Meyer are true, then they are going to have to find somebody with a reputation pure as fresh snow. Guess who that matches?

I know every conference has issues but it seems The B1G has quite a number of these. Penn State, MSU, Minnesota and now TOSU.

Not exactly sure.

If they do it after the season, Herman could parlay this into a monster contract with one of them.

Feel free to wring your hands and worry that Ohio State has no other option than to go with Campbell. I personally think that while he probably is on their 'list' they're going for a bigger fish.

Only coaches black and yellow teams, besides he is just waiting for the steelers to open back up.
Or Borussia Dortmund
