This is pretty embarrassing IMO.

We won 7 games last year in the regular season. If we can't match that or at least get to 6 this year, even in 11 games, then we don't deserve to go to a bowl. If we need this game to get to 6, we're not deserving at all IMO.

Basically CMC and JP are telling the team that they don't believe they can get to at least 6 wins this year without a cupcake. Just man up and get to 6 wins in 11 games.

And for all the Hawk fans laughing at this..... seriously?? You're schedule is probably still easier than ISU's this year even with us adding Incarnate Word. We'll both be playing 1 FCS school still, although Iowa's will be a tougher test, but our conference schedule is much tougher than Iowa's.

ISU might win 6 games without this, and they may not. KSU looks very beatable right now, bet after living through a decade of those guys pulling off BS wins, nothing is certain. It is just a great contingency plan by JP. (Remember when everyone was mad because JP couldn't control the weather)

Its not only about getting 6 wins, if you read the release it is more about getting playing time. This will be huge for those that are in the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th string and those that now have an extra game with the 4 game redshirt rule. Its about getting more reps. And another data point when it comes to bowl season, everyone else including the Alabamas in the world keep scheduling cupcakes, we schedule the top 5 FCS schools every year and no one cares, all they see is FCS either way. Who cares. And Frankly at this point we didn't have a lot of optoins and the NCAA was not giving us any help either. We want this game whether we have 5 wins, 6 wins or even 8 wins, unless we are going to the championship game, it is a benefit to the team and the players.

Ugh... I honestly think we have a better chance against OU than KSU

You're proving my point.

I don't want to win 5 games and only get to a bowl game because we beat the little sisters of the poor on Dec 1st. Not very deserving IMO.

I like this. KCCI reported that Incarnate Word's football program was established in 2009. Not even a 10 year old football program gets some recognition and experience playing a P5 school, we get an easy win and most likely just confirmed a bowl game. Seems like a win win situation.

Jinx. Let's just call for a UConn 2002 all over again.

I'd gladly take ISU just going crazy for the next 2 months and playing a different game on Dec. 1. :)

Yet half of the bowl teams every year are there because of that very reason. Very few ever schedule the top teams like we do.

And if we had 5 wins going into December 1 and lost to an FBS or strong FCS team, you'd be angry with Pollard for not scheduling an easier game to get bowl eligible.

So, if we would have beat SDSU by 40 the first game, that is fine to count that game, but it isn't fine to schedule whoever JP can to make up that game? I realize that we would all have rather had the SDSU game to get ready for Iowa, but sometime things are just beyond the control of the athletic program.

So going to no bowl would be better to you? And passing on an opportunity to win a bowl game in Phoenix or something is better? Maybe our 2012 team didn’t deserve a bowl then I guess.. Western Illinois wasn’t very good that year. There is nothing that will make you happy.

If Alabama can schedule Mercer, ISU can schedule...(just a second--had to look the name up) Incarnate Word.

So is this a timing issue more than an opponent issue?
Lets say we open the season with Incarnate Word and then proceed to win 6 games on the season. Is the team still not deserving because one of those 6 wins was Incarnate Word?

It’s a clonedude issue. Nothing more.

This is a great addition to the schedule. It doesn’t completely undo the damage done by effectively starting the season a week later than everyone else, but adding another game in which we can develop players is nothing but a positive.

Sorry to break it to you, but we aren't going to Phoenix if we have 5 wins going into the Incarnate Word game and win that one.

Until we finally beat KState I'll never take that game for granted, not as long as the Wizard is there. Last yr was a ref farewell gift to him and he never retired. Other times we've just lost (how did Rhodes piss that game away?)
