This. I would never have given a second thought to letting my daughter go out by herself and play a round of golf in the morning. Now...
Why would town/school officials allow this "camp"? Next to a golf course, next to a major university?
You are right you do get to blame this homeless guy for this, but you DON'T get to blame the other homeless people who had nothing to do with this.
I wasn't defending this scum, I was defending the other homeless people from being lumped in with this guy. Learn how to ******* read!!!

This hits close to home for many reasons.
I have played coldwater several times and often see members of ISU team there playing/walking.
I've always thought it was peaceful to enjoy a round of golf alone during a nice day. Can't imagine the confusion/terror.
Really feel bad for her loved ones & also the gentlemen that were interviewed that let her play through.
Women lead a different life than men. Personal safety has to be much higher on the list. I am aware of my surroundings but being sexually assaulted in a parking ramp isn't high on the list
I read a story after the tragic Brooklyn murder. Women get an amazing amount of harassment compared to men. One line said the only people surprised by female runners being harassed are women who don't run and men.
May this young woman rest in peace. Another tragic story
All but one golfer on our roster is foreign. Imagine the scare this will put into their families.
Thought I would post the golf course layout for any of you who aren't familiar. I haven't lived in Iowa for 15 years so I had to look it up to refresh my memory.
I don't have a daughter, but I can feel this. Is nowhere safe? Are we going to have to assign bodyguards to women to protect them from all of the ******* up men in this country whenever they want to do something as innocuous as effing golfing in the morning?

Defining committable mental illness is the big challenge... For instance, would this suspect qualify?
There's so much about this story that just makes you sick to your stomach. The senselessness, the loss of such a talented and dedicated individual, the complete randomness.
But the part that sits the worst with me is the absolute brazenness of the whole thing. Broad day light, populated area-- just about as unthinkable of an area to have something like this happen as possible. I try not to overreact in these situations, but this seriously has me wondering what in the World you can do anymore and feel safe.
Also, hearing the recitation of events from the man she played through was absolutely terrible. From a cheery, happy person just playing a round of golf to dead within that time span. Just makes you sick.

He should have been in prison. It looks like this was a failure of the justice system in that regard.
When I was in town for the SDSU game weekend I had just noticed the jogging trail that runs adjacent to the golf course and over by VetMed, and noticed how thick the canopy of trees were and actually thought out loud, "that doesn't look safe". And with this guy being as mentally ill as he clearly is it could have been anybody that he ultimately attacked. I do think that the homeless camp needs to be (it will be) cleared out entirely as there's no reason for it to be anywhere near a college community.
