Just watched in DVR'd version.

One average team being less average than the other.

Low scoring but ISU is not that good on either side of the ball. Good defense doesn't let those 3rd downs go.

Offensive scheme is putrid. If it's 3rd and 5, get 6 yards and figure out what's next.

Kind of frustrating but kind of not since TCU isn't that good either.

Bummer to see DM get hurt but maybe not beat the hell out of your best player.

Making it a dog fight is nice, but being productive is better. Is our game plan and personnel utilization maximizing production?

We were in the game due to defense. There’s very little that a poor of offense contributes to that success on defense, unless one thinks things like getting more first downs, time of possession, and points adversely impacts our defense.

Sure, we could have more turnovers, but most INTs are not worse than a punt.
Did they have good offensive game plan and execution vs OU?

Just a reminder that the large majority of those predicting scores thought we'd lose by quite a bit more than 3. So we lost by 3, and half the board melts down.

I'm not saying there isn't some concern, but TCU is a very good teams, and there are some winnable games coming up.

Yeah I thought a 30-20ish type of score but I'm not convinced that TCU is that good after watching that. They're not very fundamentally sound. Neither is ISU.

What? How did I imply that
You didn't, but the idea the D is being wasted seems to sound a bit like whining. That is like saying, if only we had a great offense every year with a great D, I would be happy. Campbell has been rebuilding the o-line and shows how bad it was before. The season was screwed up with the cancelled game and it feels like they are behind because of it, but @iowa, OU, and @TCU aren't fair indicators of how good to O is. Ohio St scored 1/2 of their scoring avg tonight. Think fans are upset at their offense? I hope not, because it changes in the context of the game.

Baylor scored 33 and and Army only had to score 21 to stay in the game but make OU work, so I can't say ISU did.
OU put up 66 against Baylor, lol.
Army is a different animal. Unique, out of conference, option team. OU only had 40 snaps and still have 28 points if memory serves on number of stats.

ISU was down 7 with 10 to go against OU. Your points are not valid in this instance.

Army rushed for 300+ yards against OU.

Stuck to do what they do well.

Good offensive plan.

What is one thing ISU does well?

Be careful what you guarantee. All I hear about is your “less than average offensive line.” Question. Who leads the nation in sacks through Week 5, with 24?
I feel good about it. How many sacks has ISU given up this year? How many for Zeb vs Kempt? ISU hasn't had pass protection issues, it's the run blocking everyone focuses on.

Army only does one thing, the triple option, lol. Do you expect ISU to run for 300+ a game or throw for 400/game?
I think each game is different and given the circumstances, ISU has done well to put themselves in position to win. Yes, the execution needs to be better. That is obvious, but to sit here and act like they're screwed because they aren't putting up 50 pts/game is ludicrous.

Oh, ok. Well 360 yards and being 1 score down with 10 minutes to go is poor planning on the coaches part...(sarcasm because the way people are viewing this team, I am worried I have ot point it out.)
Baylor had nearly 500 yards of offense against OU today and put up 33. Baylor doesn’t even have a very good offense. Our offensive output against OU will probably still be one of the lowest of any Big 12 team this year against them. Only ones worse will be the Kansas schools.

I'm curious why we don't have or won't run a screen pass to DM behind 3 offensive linemen. Lots of WR screens with WR blocking (Butler is good at it at least), but nothing to our best space playmaker. That seems like a great constraint play to keep the DL/LB playing honest, helping our run game. Croney or Lang would be fine too, wouldn't have to be DM.

As much as I complain about the offense being 2003 bad, I better post about the defense. They are the best unit I think I’ve ever seen during my Iowa State fandom. I love watching them. Extremely well coached bunch and talented. Gotta give major props to Heacock and all the position coaches on defense.

I'm not sure I agree with this although the defense is certainly not bad.

More missed tackles and bad angles tonight in crucial situations.

I'm not expecting ISU to run for 300+. I'd like to see them do something well, and play off of that. I'd like to see simply making sure to get the 1st down over going large when the 1st down is easier and higher percentage.
