Here's a bit of fly in your soup. Was Brock's performance more of OSU defense being bad and not prepared for him or was it due to him truly being electric?

We, have a history of an unknown QB torching the opposition in their debut but fizzling out. A la Richardson VS KU, Kempt VS OU (albeit he accomplished alot since that game but has been his best performance), and Zeb VS OSU last year.

I think the unknown had some to so with it, but he was dropping dimes out there. He got a bit predictable with the zone read keepers, but the defense had to respect the run which opened up the game for our wrs.
It won't be all gravy from here out, but I think he's what this team needs right now

Somebody please post that Bali-Wood musical dance scene gif. Where the dude comes out clapping and they all jump into a dance together. I need that in my life RIGHT NOW!

Couldn't see the 2nd half but nice to see ISU held on for a much needed win.

Purdy fits what they want to do on offense more so hopefully they continue to get it figured out.

Only saw the first half but figured OSU would have more yards with that many points.

They can get WV if all three phases are tightened up.

Those Cowpokes sure think highly of themselves. From OrangePower.com:

But why were we even in that position to begin with? You know, the one where we're losing late in the game to an ISU team that isn't very good? And why have we consistently sucked against ISU? These last four or five years, we should've demolished them. Like flat-out program-hindering defeats. But we haven't.

Well, if you have not destroyed ISU the way you think you can maybe the problem lies in your mind instead on the gridiron.

Great win.

Ok Stx2, OUx2, Iowa last year...we do a lot better on offense when we don’t expect the defense to do all the work. Even intra-game, we only had trouble when going ultra-conservative.

In retrospect, how did it come down to the last minute? Good offense and our defense seemed to play well, holding Hill in check, and not many yards overall. But give Ok St’s QB credit with 6 total TDs and some critical scramble yards. Their WRs make plays.

That was a huge blunder on the punt. Pretty basic stuff.

That hit on Purdy still has me pissed.

To be fair Ruth was doing what he was supposed to do -> when you hear the "peter" call you turn and run directly to the sidelines. It was just a freak thing.

The only negative I can see from that game is that the defensive backfield needs to get it's act together this week. The WVU qb can really sling the ball, especially on the deep shots.

Kansas got three INTs and a fumble out of him, if we do something similar we'll be sitting good.

It’s not about Ruth, it’s about Milton. That wasn’t the first time we looked unaware.
Milton was late and not very demonstrative in calling Ruth off, but he’s a freshman.

I agree with that. The Punt Returner needs to be assertive and loud with his "peter" call

Great game but fearful he will get banged up. He isn’t exactly a huge dude.

He’s a dual threat QB. He’s supposed to run. Just like every other dual threat that has thrived in CBB. You’re just as likely to get killed standing back in the pocket as you are running. There’s an element of control that he gets when he runs.

Purdy's learning curve will certainly get a boost this week as the #1 (assuming that he is). I'm really looking forward to Montgomery being back there with him...already drooling over the RPO where Monty releases into the flats and Purdy hits him...off to the races!

But let's just consider the intellect of OSU for a minute. The Cowboys had a strip of barbed wire down the center of their helmets. Anybody have a guess what actually killed the profession of being a Cowboy? That's right... barbed wire.

It's almost as bad as when they show Wyatt Earp clips in the stadium from Tombstone when he says "You called down the thunder...". Well guess who Wyatt is going to kill? That's right... the Cowboys.

They just aren't smart.

I think it is a couple things. Milton should have been a little more demonstrative in calling Ruth off, and there was no reason for Ruth to be back there trying to block. ISU was in extreme punt safe, so there was no way there was going to be a return. Darn soccer style kicks also make this tricky. Glad the team was able to overcome it.

The running game he added was great, but boy did he have some gorgeous throws as well. The one during the second quarter to Milton over the middle was about as beautiful of throw as I can remember one of our QBs making.
