I thought Steele Jantz was the guy after the triple OT win against Iowa. I also thought Sam Richardson was the guy after he looked sharp coming into the KU game. So I'm tempering expectations on Purdy until we see how he does the rest of the season. Having said that, he certainly looks the part.

How well does Will Grier throw on the run? IMO when we got Cornelius moving it seemed he really struggled with accuracy.

Difference in this should be that Purdy has a complete upgrade in talent all around him and what he does looks more like what ISU's staff wants to do.

Park wasn't too bad at running and the offense seemed more open then as well.

Way up there
I was apprehensive about Jantz and Sammy (I was really not excited about him) but don't feel that way at all about Purdy. My only concern with Brock is his size can he hold up running the ball all season.

My hope is he's being coached like, right now, to not run as much or the game plan is being built a different way.

It's not even the read option that's the big deal--it's the threat of scrambling and making the defense to react even for just a moment to open up zones.

Liked Noland's message. Even if he weren't feeling exactly that way, making it apparent that everyone is there for the same thing keeps things moving forward. I get the feeling that wasn't the case last year until about October.

Yeah, he took more hits on the run than I'd like to see. But it was his first significant action and I'm sure the adrenaline was flowing. He should be a little smarter about that stuff going forward. I'm not ready to crown him as the QB of the future, but he was great against OSU and Campbell should ride the hot hand at QB.

I hope Campbell’s statements re starting QB during the presser are intended to make WVU prep for Purdy and Kempt. Because it would be barking mad to start anyone but Purdy on Saturday. The SBR and Jantz caveats are pointless until Purdy shows that he can’t do it.

Purdy doing well doesn't make X,Y,Z suck... but if we go by eyes, and actual results then Purdy still has job. If we had even an Average offense verse Iowa, or TCU we have 1 loss on season only. Im not sure I love the fact Matt C is hinting that Kempt is the starter. Purdy did about 3 things on Saturday that neither Kempt nor Noland have ever done once in their entire career at ISU. Not crowing anyone. I understand Im not at practice and all that. But from what I've seen and heard it makes zero sense to start anyone else.

I'd actually feel better if WVU beat Kansas 50-0 last week. They played pretty poorly overall and I'm not confident they'll play poorly two weeks in a row. We're going to have to beat them on their A game.

And I'm guessing Purdy is blocked from the media because he's a freshman.

Love Brock.
We need a running threst at QB.
My worry is he gets hurt. Almost think he ran a few too many times st OSU.
The worst hits he took were on passes, but he’ll learn when to fight for a couple extra yards and when to slide.

That’s the surprise. In keeping with the “first start greatness” trend, Saturday is Re-al’s turn. WVU will be totally unprepared.

(Again, desperately seeking jimlad)

From what I’ve seen, he can throw a laser 40 yards downfield on the run, and then throw a lame duck across the middle the next time. He’s really good, but his decision making is sometimes too aggressive.

Just watched the replay (missed the 2nd half).

ISU was far from perfect on either side of the ball which is a good thing.

Agreed. The Lawrence white/ deandre Payne side of the secondary was exploited multiple times. Need to get that locked down for ISU to have a chance against West Vagina.
