Deonte, interviewed after the game last night. There are a number of followers of the team that are saying he needs more PT, some of which even laud his defense (amazing to think after his junior year at ISU). The Thunder are 0-3 for the first time ever; maybe our guys will see some increased minutes in the upcoming games. The Celtics are next - how motivated would Nader be? - so they have a good shot at starting 0-4.

Monte had a good run so far this first half against Sacramento, +13 in 11 minutes played.

Monté has played well so far - he and G Harris have the highest +/- on the Nuggets. I'm so glad that Murray picked up his 3rd foul - gave ManMan a chance to continue to show his value.

BTW, I was so glad that Philly lost tonight. I've never really "disliked" the Sixers UNTIL Embiid began playing for them. The Morris twins were my least favorite players in the league until he showed up. I'd love to see Mason, the Morrises, Embiid and Wiggins all on the same team (preferably the Lakers) & then I could really hate an entire team.

I've been keeping an eye on the box score. In his first 4 minutes, he already had 2 pts, a steal, an assist and a rebound. Six pts, and 3 assists in 15 minutes for the first half and the 2nd unit really did well.

Every game, his value has grown so far this year.

Getting time on a team that might go somewhere as well.

Good place to be.

Not a big NBA fan, but love seeing former Cyclones have success. Does anyone know what the average NBA career duration is for a backup point guard or any backup player for that matter? Thanks in advance.

Monte led the Nuggets in minutes tonight per the box score.

Yeah he played a lot in the first half because Murray picked up two fouls early, and the Nuggets rested their starters in the 2nd half so he played a huge stretch late. His shot isn’t dropping or he’d have had an incredible line.

Murray is only 21 and had a fantastic age 20 season getting somewhat close to 50/90/40 club. It’s going to be near impossible for Monte to beat him out.

He's always been a combo and tonight they already played together some for a good stretch. Reminds me of how Kane would slide over early his freshman year.

Monte ended up with the most minutes on the team in Game 4 - 29. But the starters sat the whole 4th quarter because of the big lead, so that stat is a bit of a distortion. As mentioned above, he had 11 pts and 7 assists.

The one quibble that you could have in his performance so far this season is that he hasn't shot 50% from the field in any game this year - he's shooting 32% from the field. But it's clear that the offense runs well when he's in there and he makes others better.

Vague-prediction-from-an-only-semi-informed-observer: The offense is running smoothly for the 4-0 Nuggets but when Isaiah Thomas returns, there will be growing pains because he likes the ball in his hands ... a lot.
