I've never understood why the Grove Cafe doesn't get more play around here.
I personally like a bloody with a big weekend breakfast, grove is a little tight capacity wise, and I'm not a huge breakfast potato person and a lot of their specials come with them.
Don't get me wrong, its a great spot though.

My folks live about a half mile from the Hitchin Post! They love it, I find it OK.

American Skillet in SW Cedar Rapids is the best I have found. Great place, probably my #1.

Bluebird in IC is also good.

Breitbachs - don't understand the love. Went once, won't go back. Too big, like a Cracker Barrel but with amateur management.

I eat a lot of breakfasts at the "Hy- Five" delis, and for the most part they're pretty good.

Where they love the governor
Biased, but restaurants in Amana. My personal favorite is the Ronneburg now that the Colony Inn is closed. Its about 10 minutes from I-80.

They will also server breakfast family style if you guys have enough folks that want to do that in your party.

Ronneburg is good eating. I used to work at the Amana plant and that was on the Friday lunch rotation.

This is key; love The Grove but wish they would add this for when I'm in town for basketball/football games.

Did this place use to be called something else? Like the Berghaus or something to that effect?

Second on Mullets. Depends what you're going for though. It's my favorite spot simply because I'm usually riding my bike down and I LOVE their breakfast burrito smothered with cheese and salsa. I also and really touch and go on bloodies but I love them there.

I'm big on breakfast (omelets) and in the Des Moines Area my fave is usually The Waveland/Booneville Bar. Otherwise, Jethro's makes some good breakfast but some locations have gone to buffet only, which is dumb.

I will absolutely 2nd whoever has said Waveland Cafe. That place is awesome!

I will also say there is no better way to start a Cyclone game day then by getting to Tip Top at 6, getting a bloody mary, and a bowl of their chili. I will absolutely be there on Saturday, and hope to see some fellow fanatics there, too!
