They won. Teams in front of them probably lost. Winning > losing. And how does Ohio State move up one in the coaches poll after struggling with Nebraska at home?
And, they ARE tOSU...They won. Teams in front of them probably lost. Winning > losing.
Just a guess...haven't looked at the poll.
Oooh.... That's gonna leave a mark!I was watching Iowas game the other day and they called them the Cyclones during the telecast.
How the f*** does Texas stay at 15 in the AP poll?
This is good. I finally found something more arbitrary and way dumber than the CFB Infinity Gauntlet.Read his Twitter. It's something along the lines of each team is assigned a number of marbles at the beginning of the year, and depending what happens each week the winning team takes a certain percentage of the losing team's marbles. If you win at home, you take 20% of the losing team's marbles; win on the road, you take 25% of their marbles.

How is Penn State still ranked? Michigan State? WTF?? God the Big 10 is crap.
He screwed up - he counted ISU as a home game (and multiplied by .2) instead of as a road game (and should have multiplied by .25). As a result, he shorted us 5 marbles. We should be at 321.

Edit: also Steve Batterson (Quad City Times) didn't even have us ranked. What an ahole.
The Cyclones and Illini barely exist in the QC from the Times point of view (despite the fact the ISU following in the QC is growing). ISU could win the Big 12 Championship game and go to the Sugar Bowl and it would be a stunner if the Cyclones showed up below the fold on the front page of the sports section.

The marbles thing - everybody wants to have a gimmick and get famous and make money. I have heard worse ideas.
WRT AP and coaches polls - has nothing to do with how good you are from an objective standard. It's basically a measure of how long it has been since you last lost - the longer it has been, the higher you are. It's not that you take steps forward, it's that everyone else takes steps back. Which is dumb of course, but that's how it works in practice.
Who cares about the Times? Fishing season is over and I’ve got plenty of Charmin.
Getting into the CFP top 25 must've had notable influence on voters. Otherwise, would a win at Kansas have been enough to jump to AP & Coaches top 25?
