And how does Ohio State move up one in the coaches poll after struggling with Nebraska at home?
They won. Teams in front of them probably lost. Winning > losing.

Just a guess...haven't looked at the poll.

Read his Twitter. It's something along the lines of each team is assigned a number of marbles at the beginning of the year, and depending what happens each week the winning team takes a certain percentage of the losing team's marbles. If you win at home, you take 20% of the losing team's marbles; win on the road, you take 25% of their marbles.
This is good. I finally found something more arbitrary and way dumber than the CFB Infinity Gauntlet.

Edit: also Steve Batterson (Quad City Times) didn't even have us ranked. What an ahole.

So basically...... this guy wants to replace the CFP with a high stakes game of Hungry Hungry Hippos ???

The marbles thing - everybody wants to have a gimmick and get famous and make money. I have heard worse ideas.

WRT AP and coaches polls - has nothing to do with how good you are from an objective standard. It's basically a measure of how long it has been since you last lost - the longer it has been, the higher you are. It's not that you take steps forward, it's that everyone else takes steps back. Which is dumb of course, but that's how it works in practice.

How is Penn State still ranked? Michigan State? WTF?? God the Big 10 is crap.

Penn State is a mystery since they've been marginal all season.

MSU has some nice wins so #24 is OK by me. Let's see if Michigan doesn't screw it up since they look so legit now.

The Cyclones and Illini barely exist in the QC from the Times point of view (despite the fact the ISU following in the QC is growing). ISU could win the Big 12 Championship game and go to the Sugar Bowl and it would be a stunner if the Cyclones showed up below the fold on the front page of the sports section.

Guarantee it'd be a full-pager on Iowa's game, even if they lost.

Who cares about the Times? Fishing season is over and I’ve got plenty of Charmin.

The one that really shows reporter bias is one loss Michigan being ranked higher than undefeated Notre Dame. Who did Michigan lose to...............reporters must not remember.

Getting into the CFP top 25 must've had notable influence on voters. Otherwise, would a win at Kansas have been enough to jump to AP & Coaches top 25?

AP and Coaches polls are worthless after the committee comes out with first ranking. It's incredibly obvious they start taking advice from the small committee.

The committee is being kind to ISU so far this year but this is still an absolutely horrible format. We went from a 1/3 computer average and 2/3 hundreds of voters to a small room of good old boys.
