Whar @surly? Can't believe he hasn't weighed in yet on this.

I've responded to these kinds of threads on other boards occasionally. It's sad for me. I know Bill a little. Our son started at K-State just as coach Snyder turned the program around, then got his MBA the year Bishop took them to the front step of the national championship game.

Bill is a wonderful, caring, giving human being. He doesn't cheat the task of life. Never takes a shortcut. Has brought wonderful football to K-State and around it contributed immeasurably to Manhattan and the university.

So, this is no fun for me. I hate seeing it end. I don't like writing about it. But one thing is for sure, whoever follows Bill Snyder will have the same monumental task as replacing Knight at IU, Bo at Michigan, and Evashevski at Iowa.

Didn't we make an amazing comeback and beat snyder at his last home game before his 1st retirement?
We played KSU at home the first time Snyder retired and beat them soundly. The year before (2004) we beat them the last game of season to become bowl eligible. I don’t remember it was an amazing comeback but a good win none the less.

Here is an article from Saturday about this very issue:

But Snyder didn’t blame the team as a whole, or special teams as a unit or himself as the head coach. Those are his usual answers. No, Snyder blamed junior receiver and return specialist Isaiah Zuber. Zuber committed the first special teams miscue of the game when he muffed a punt that set up a touchdown for TCU. It was a touchdown Snyder believes won the contest for the Horned Frogs.

It came roughly 90 seconds into the game. Yes, 90 seconds into the game.

“It wasn’t special teams as much as it was an individual,” Snyder said. “You take away the turnover that gave them the winning touchdown, and we’re talking about a different thing right now.”

It was stunning. Bill Snyder just blamed an entire loss on one player who made a mistake in the first 90 seconds of the game. That’s why they lost. Period.

His post game answers on the QB situation this year have been really out of character as well. He also had that situation with the kid in the summer who wanted to transfer. He seems to be miss applying his own standards to himself and its just out of character and makes me think he is losing what made him so special for so many years.

What's Ron Prince up to?

In all seriousness that can't be a sexy gig for anyone. Trying to replace Snyder's old school ways, in a place like Manhattan. I'll be thrilled to see K-State tumble back to the bottom.
You mean like where they are now? :)

It was quite amazing I remember it. I think we scored 3 touchdowns in the last 3 or 4 minutes of the game.

I mean, it’s not tragic. He’s an old guy retiring. We should all be so lucky.

KState is my second favorite Big8/12 team. Just ticks me off how he has won against us. Forever greatful how my grandfather (KSU grad) got to see good KSU football in his life.

But it’s time to return to the KState of old. “There is more than one way to skin a cat”

I......whoever follows Bill Snyder will have the same monumental task as replacing Knight at IU, Bo at Michigan, and Evashevski at Iowa.

All accomplished coaches, but tough to compare them to Knight who won multiple national championships.

Some of you people are pathetic. (And yes, I expect there will be troll comments in reference to my lack of posts, but I've been lurking on here for years.) You actually are worried that Snyder announcing his retirement before our game will matter? You probably also believe the Mafia/CIA/KGB/Cuban ******** that Oliver Stone sold you about JFK. Nut up!!! We will roll KSU handily on 11/24, and I will be in JTS savoring every minute of it.

KSU, hands down, has owned us since 2008 - they have legitimately beaten us. But did you watch last year's game in Manhattan? That, by far, is the biggest hose job in ISU sports history. To have a head ref wave off 3 flags in one game that benefited the SAME team - whose coach, most people (including the refs) assumed, would retire at the end of the season - was a total travesty! The last one was especially egregious that cost us the ability to basically score to put the game out of reach OR, at the very least, bleed the clock to almost zero & bleed KSU out of timeouts. I expect us to beat KSU this year - but you can't put anything past the Big XII officials when it comes to favoritism (for another example: see the hose job vs UT that likely saved Mac Brown's job for the rest of that season).

It wasn't so many years ago that a truly bad Colorado team announced they were firing Dan Hawkins during the week leading up to our game, and they played their best game of the year and beat us.

2004 wasn't the last game of the season and was at KSU. That win set up for the Missouri debacle the following week.

2005 was at home when that team was in the process of making it look like they'd figured it out.

I disagree. Yes, KSU won those games, but they didn't "own" us. All but one were a one-score game. Sometimes the coin falls tails ten times in a row (and it sucks when we're heads).

Last year was a travesty, no doubt. I don't know what the hell was the reason for it, but what would be the incentive for the refs/Big 12 to give the Cryptkeeper one last win? Now, helping Texa$ or OU to a win has monetary incentive for the conference, but even then I struggle to believe it's intentional.

I am not the least bit concerned about the KSU game, whether or not Snyder is coaching his last game. It's time to believe in your team and put these damn conspiracy theories to bed!

Surly plz share with the people the similarities Ames and Manhattan enjoy- are the two cities nearly identical?
