If I was Fred, the last few years would have soured me on just about everything coaching related. I'd probably want to just roll around in my money with my family for a few years and r-e-l-a-x out of the spotlight.
After seeing Fred's last recruiting class and Prohm's recent one, I hope not many would want that.
I love Fred for everything he did at Iowa State. But I also look at see that we have 5 NBA guys and a handful of oversees pros that we had - and he had one Sweet 16 to show for it.
I don’t think Fred will be active for a couple years at least. He’s going to stay home. That home is probably Minnesota I would guess.
I will ask my grandma though she can ask the Hoiberg’s.
I agree and its not like they wanted to win big this year so why pay a coach to not coach and then pay other coaches more to coach for you. Does any of that make sense?Don't get it, the bulls should be looking to lose every game the rest of the season and take Zion or Barret, as long as GarPax are in charge the Bulls are hosed.
I think the whole "don't like recruiting thing" was overblown. Assistants can help you recruit, they can't coach 100+ games for you in the NBA every year.
Also if recruiting was easy at blue bloods you wouldn't see KU, UNC, Louisville etc all bending the rules and cheating. It's a nasty business everywhere all the time.
I think there is more truth to this than we want to admit (plus Parrish is well keyed into the college coaching scene):
Add in his flirtations with Minnesota back in the day and the smoke around him and Ohio State last year...

Hey..... Fred needs a job and we need an Offensive Coordinator.
With his player spacing and ball movement philosophies we would be scoring in the 80s in no time. (insert jimlad here)
Well, they still have to pay Hoiberg his guaranteed money. So I don't think this makes sense.
I'm a huge Parrish fan but he's way off here. Fred hated recruiting. He's still going to have to recruit wherever he would go.
Why would Fred take another head coaching job if he can get something else or do nothing and collect $25 million for next year? Guess if it was me I would take a front office job somewhere, unless that keeps him from collecting the buyout. If he can't work at all, just go have fun for a year.
