I love Tyrese - but until I see him take over a game like Lindell has done in his 2 years at ISU, I would select LW every day of the week and twice on Sundays. This isn't to say that TH won't end up being better at some point, however. I also would take LW and TH over Cook. Cook is strong - can dunk, rebound and get shots over taller players. BUT, he is not a consistently good passer & cannot make routine mid-range shots. Those qualities separate a player like Niang from someone like Cook.

This, Lindell showed his worth on Wednesday forcing his way into the lane, stressing the D/getting fouls to maintain/extend the lead and hit the clutch 3 to put it out of reach.
Tyrese was very good on D and hit important 3 point shots but isn't asked to run the offense like LW and NWB are. THT and TH will grow into that responsibility as Georges and Monte did and LW is currently.

We need to remember the CBS mock that is being referenced is projecting THT and NWB (body/style) will be in 3-4 years translated to the pro league, not the importance or how good the player is right now in college and winning games.

I think LW needs to have the ball at the end of each half if we're holding for one shot. He is the best creator on the team due to his athleticism and has been passing the ball to the open man effectively. (Shayok forced a shot when he was covered at the end of the first half when he should have dished to an open LW, something he corrected in the second half.)

My #2 option is NWB because of his court awareness and judgment. He has also shown he can score when needed, though his biggest value is running the team and getting everyone involved.

I maintain my position that LW is going to find it difficult to make a NBA roster. He is not a good position match for the NBA and while he is an athletic freak, the whole NBA is so he won’t be able to get by on god given athleticism like he can in college.

I think what Woo is getting at is there are alot of guys that can score in the league. They are a dime a dozen. But what Haliburton has shown is a knack that most don't have. He's a great defender, brilliant passer and just keeps the flow of the offense going. Anymore, with today's NBA offenses, there is a premium on that.

I think the Ball comparison is good, but I see Shaun Livingston. Big and lanky, good defender, great passer. Maybe will never be an elite scorer, but does everything else very well.

yeah a 6'3" freakishly athletic guard who plays off the ball can never make it in the NBA.....

Now my thinking isn't far from yours, but you need to realize how scouts and NBA GM's think. They draft on potential, not obvious talent. So they'll look at age, intangibles and say well, this guy has a lot of upside. Not saying I fully agree with it, but just saying why it's not off the wall for them to be thinking that way.

This is more of a 5-10 years ago thing.

Good call on the Livingston comp, I've been thinking the same thing. Though the current version with GS who defers to the stars, makes open shooters, and right pass. Not the SL who was drafted by the Clippers at 4. Rookie Livingston prior to his gruesome knee injury could do it all and could have been a game changing lead guard.

Haliburton is still developing and has more of an offensive ceiling that he can get to once given the opportunity after this year. Right now is doing his role perfectly, much like Monte his freshman year good defense, shoot open shots and make the right pass (like Livingson). Tyrese will be given the ball in positions to create once NWB/Shayok/Lindell have went to the next level. In my mind, if he can become the 6'6" version of Monte ISU will win a lot of games with him TH will be a first round pick.

Not a bad little comparison, but Livingston is also like 6'8". Hopefully Tyrese can develop some sort of jumper off the dribble or midrange floater.

To say LW is getting by with athleticism is a pretty dumb statement. Not only did he shoot 40% from 3 last year, he has shown tremendous ability to create and hit tough shots at a fairly high rate. As you could see when he was trying to guard Weathers, he's not all the way back to being as explosive and quick as he was (or perhaps still needs to gain some confidence in the foot) and he was still a nightmare to guard on the offensive end.
