So where do you think we'll finish? Like I said before, I 've seen this exact same thing going back to Johnny Orr. Eustachy is the only one to stop the trend for 2 years.

I'll take 30 years of data over thinking we will end up 15-3.

I would have zero idea and my guess - ANYONE'S guess - would simply be a guess based on little more than cardinal and gold glasses that are either way more than half full or way less.

Glasses means 2 things.

So present a counter argument. We lose Shayok, Talley, and Weiler-Babb for sure. I hope we get Wigginton back, but he tested the NBA last year which showed that he wanted to leave last year. Among the reasons he came back was his inexperience and the fact that he was coming from a losing team. He will have more experience this year, and we are winning more games. Together, that gives me a 60% chance he leaves. As for Horton-Tucker, people are making a lot about his abilities and youth. When the season is over, a lot of people will be talking him up. Even if he wants to come back, I see a lot of people putting dollar signs in his ears. 60% chance he leaves. That's a lot of players to lose.

As for the recruiting class, it is ranked 44th. Texas's recruiting class is in the top 15. Almost all of our hopes in this class are pinned on Marcedus Leech, who was a top-50 player until he sustained a really bad injury. We are obviously hoping he gets back to his pre-injury form. Even if he does, one player (even a top-50 player) can't replace losing 5 players.

But, then, I am a stupid idiot moron, so none of this matters.

I've yet to see THT being a draft pick based on his play. Do you think we lose Jacobsen too? Maybe Conditt goes to play in Europe?

What's funny is you're leaping ahead to next year, but also stuck in yesterday. Lots of stuff happens in the in-between times. That's what makes college sports fun. But maybe I'm wired differently.

I've never had sex with twins. Never. But I'm still working hard to make it happen.

Last year? They won 21 games and went 8-10 last year. Are you really comparing Kansas losing agaisnt a solid team to losing agaisnt the worst team in the conference this year?

I thought you were smarter than that, I was sadly mistaken.

8 and 10 in conference doesn't seem "solid".

Well, I think the larger point is that it's WAY too early to tell. Could be a 3, could be a 9. Depends on how we develop, how many breaks we get (or don't) and how other things fall too. Just enjoy it game by game. I'm pretty confident that they will have a successful season, so the question in my mind is how successful.
After last year, making the tourney would be a successful season. Some people have crazy expectations, like winning the Big12 regular season. This team has the talent but they will have to be consistent over long stretches to achieve this, and I don't see that happening. I hope I'm wrong.

Lol, not even Prohm’s agent would try selling that. The bar doesn’t get lower for a staff due to that staff’s struggles.

You’re confusing high aspirations with high expectations, which you validate with your comment about having the talent. It’s very reasonable to criticize when the “team has the talent” but are “not consistent over long stretches” to reach their potential.

Do you all think Self has some subliminal affinity for OSU that causes him to lose to them a surprising amount?
No. I think players are at times dumb college kids who get burnt out, think they have a game where they can take their foot off the gas a bit and get beat.

Losing at Baylor was a reality check. We have a good team, but we are going to struggle on the road. I'm guessing we go 11-7 in conference; win out at home and maybe get one more on the road. Probably around a 6-7 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Seems more newsworthy when we win in Waco than win we lose. If this game ruined the season for you or even changed your outlook, you overreacted to the KU game, thats it.

What gets me about the hype after KU is, ISU didn't play great in that game. Defensively maybe but KU played awful the first 10 minutes or so and it was a neck and neck game until half. At one point weren't we 0-5 or 6 from 3 to start the game? How many of their first half points were 2nd chance points? Offensively and on the glass, this team hasn't played a great game in big 12 play. Some great stretches but they are yet to put it all together. The 2nd half against KU might be the only great half this team has played over the last 3 games.

Interesting contention, in essence going with a “we’re not that good” angle and the issue is that expectations are or were too high, despite many non-fans believing this roster as one of the most talented in the conference.

Your points of poor play justifies the reactions, not invalidates them.

You read way too much in to my post, I never said we weren't good. Just that we hadn't played like a big 12 contending team. OSU wasn't a ton different than last night, the first half against KU wasn't really either. You think this team has played to its potential the last 3 games? That the second half against KU was it's peak? Sorry I can't agree with that.

My point was this team hasn't come close to peaking, hasn't even put together a complete game since they've been full strength. I think this team can be great, they just haven't played great yet. People got way too hyped after beating a KU team with only a few guys who had ever stepped foot in Hilton.

Trend of the season for fandom moods.

Non-conference: 10 wins but 2 losses so Prohm can't even go undefeated in non-con with a young and limited roster.
W @ OSU: not real smooth, but a road win is good for NCAA prospects.

W vs. KU: 2-0 in the conference, obviously conference title is within reach since that's what ISU did twice 20 years ago and getting tickets for the one seed in Des Moines. This is CSP's basketball team!

L @ Baylor: Well, good bye league title in two months, a 3 seed, and probably aren't even as good as Kansas as a whole now.

Been a weird week.
