Your first sentence is obviously correct. I didn't even consider a possibility that Prohm and Co. aren't coaching the big men well enough defensively. McKay looked dominant Hoiberg's last year then became a foul machine overnight. Conditt was sick people were saying.

And now this thread will reach another level.

Guys, we split with KU, need to steal one in Manhattan, and have a chance to sweep TXT at home. Hold serve in Hilton and take some away games from lower tier teams, and we are still in an awesome position to win the conference. We were playing with house money in a way tonight and it didn’t pan out. On to the the Big 12/SEC Challenge. It’s not doomsday as some are making it out to be.

Sucks to lose, but I thought ISU played well tonight given the situation. KU was almost in a must-win situation. If ISU plays as well in their remaining road games, they will win their fair share.

I still think Kansas State is the best team in the Big 12 with their defense.

Hard to say who is "best" at this point. It seems like the top of the league is more mediocre than I can ever remember. I don't really feel like our team is elite but we certainly aren't out of winning the conference. It may be possible that our ceiling is higher than anyone else's, not that it will play out that way. K-State with Wade back may end up at the top, but I really don't think there's much separation at this point.

Okay. Perhaps One of the media members can ask coach what defines an emergency. If you’re too sick to play, doesn’t make sense to travel.

Unless he got sick after they left.

Listen I like Conditt and he's going to be good, but he wouldn't have been the difference.

Give it a rest, Sparky.

Why, because it's true?

Prohm is a decent coach, but when you don't have Solo, Lard is on the bench all night in foul trouble, Jacobson was also dealing with foul trouble.... then you have to try something else. Conditt looked good enough to give us minutes... or maybe throw Talley out there and see if he can give you something?

But Prohm just seems set on only playing his 7 or 8 guys and that's it.... even if there's foul trouble, injury, etc. I don't get it.

Regarding the bolded we were leading the Big 12 in free throw percentage after the OSU game according to Walters and Heft.

Yes, at 72%. Best among a bunch of terrible free throw-shooting teams. We are now sitting in 4th.

They play completely different roles because they play two completely different positions.

Is this that Bode dude?
My point still remains valid regardless of positions.

We've seen Conditt about 10 minutes the whole Big 12 season, and people think he's going into that environment, against the best player in the Big 12, and is going to be the difference maker. Cmon, he got worked two days ago against Okie St.
You said you would never play Conditt over Wig. For what energy Conditt does bring he shouldn't be playing much over 15 min a night as a frosh anyway.

Not sure what was going on with Wiggy tonight, but yikes on some of the shots he took. Surprised that they didn't give someone else a chance out there. LW was also lost on defense several times.
Besides a couple of drives to the basket that went awry, I liked his shot selection tonight - he was generally wide open! He missed 3 wide open 3s in the first half - I would be upset had he NOT taken them. Even on the pull-up 2ptr in the second half he had separation - just off a bit. His FTs? -- NOT GOOD!! I will agree that his defense wasn't the best - but that was generally true of the entire team during that 14 pt run.

He closes the space out to the shooter...when it's a guard he doesn't need to beat them off the floor...let them go and swat it when they put it up.

The guards tonight left Lard in horrible spots. He doesn't get many blocks as the primary defender but he had to be tonight because the guard was on the free throw line while the ball was on the block. How you get beaten that badly switching everything on the floor is actually impressive.

The number 1 reason that he gets called for a lot of the fouls is because he really only wants to block shots with his left hand.

Most of his fouls come as the primary defender (as you said), and as he is attempting to challenge shots. Like his 5th tonight...... he was in good position but as he went to challenge with his left hand, his right stayed on the shooter throughout. That's a foul all day long --and quite frankly one that we'd be complaining about--, but looks harmless because he doesn't contact with the left.

The adjustment there is small and doable. If he would just show his off hand on the move instead of using his off forearm for leverage he'd be fine.
