The 2010 visit to KState resulted in a huge upset win for the ISU men. I recall the ESPN crew expected the #5 Purple Kitties to roll, coming off a big win over Kansas. They also expected lowly ISU to mail it in, but it turned out to be McDermott's one and only signature win.

If those junk yard dogs could pull that off at Bramlage, so can these thoroughbreds!!

Totally agree with this. I know it's obvious, but especially so with ISU..... if we're hitting our shots we can beat about anyone in the country. If not, we can lose to just about anyone. It's one of our biggest issues. If our shots aren't falling, we have nothing else we can go to to get it done.

We've won more than a few games where the shots weren't falling. In the games where it has killed us, we didn't play well on defense.

This is such a boring take that I’m getting tired of seeing. For almost every team in the country if their shots are failing they can win almost any game and if their shots aren’t falling they can lose almost any game. This is not something unique to ISU or any team in the country.

For ISU to win this game we cannot have 3 to 5 minutes stretches where we do not score points. We need to hit around 10, three pointers and be solid on the glass. TO below 10.

Win this game, we are still in the race for the conference championship, take a loss, and that dream is over.

Make KSU earn every bucket. NO TURNOVERS! If ISU can keep TO's in the single digits, they will win.
I would like if Prohm to play more 3/4 defense. Not to trap or get TO's but to just take more time off the shot clock so our guys don't have play defense for as long.

I thought our initial defense was good for the most part. It's when the teams get into their secondary or third actions it was hurting us. Take more time out the shot clock and limit the actions each possession.

I like that.

Brown killed us in Hilton. We need to deny him the ball. No help on Wade. (I understand Wade will get some points.) Loose man-man defense entire game. Make them shoot over us and for the love of God box out.

Minimize points on TO's and second/third chances.

It will come down to who defends better, takes the other guy out of his game, Sneed on Shayok being the prime matchup. I understand the flu bug hit K-State in Austin. So, Cy may have that going for him as well as Cardi being out for the remainder. Nasty weather down here probably keeps attendance down.

True. ... Not unique to ISU. Even with that, ISU has won some games without shooting lights-out. What we can't afford is a game when seemingly no one is shooting well.

I don't think it is as lazy as you think. There are other factors that the other poster maybe worried about. Yes, making shots score points to win games, but there are obvious holes that this team and coaching can be a bit inconsistent about. Defensive toughness inside and out, running set plays - out of bounds or otherwise, especially in clutch spots, when to use timeouts and adjustments when you can tell what the other team is doing.

Again, all things that if most teams do, they can win most games and if they don’t do, they can lose most games. Not unique to ISU or any other team.

Of course, but then what is the point of analyzing games, teams, sports if your analysis is simply, if teams do all things better than opponent, they will win.
Kansas State is a tougher team and much better defensive team. Can Iowa State match that intensity and defensive effort today? If they do, K-State will have a hard time scoring and the chance of a win goes up drastically. Let's hope that is the case.
