What is this 5” business that just popped up on Weather Underground for Tuesday now? Ugh.

4 to 6 more inches Tuesday night into Wednesday for almost all of Iowa. As of now, there doesn't appear to be a lot of wind at that point or in the days immediately after.

Don't drive like this when the snow comes.

Good lord.

Those are scary as hell to watch. The people who successfully slow down and get around the mess stopping on the side are in great peril as well. Stay in your vehicle and possibly get crushed to death or try to quickly get out and make a run for it far away from the highway. Plenty of vehicles going very fast end up swerving off the highway to avoid the collision and could easily run over people that are fleeing.

Be sure to check your furnace exhaust vents these days. Mine is in a pretty protected area and usually is fine but this round of snow finally made it up to the intake pipe this morning that I had to clear it away.
Yep, I've learned the hard way on that. Not fun the 1st time when you can't figure out why your furnance has automatically shut off/down.

All shoveled, but won't be going anywhere until the plows come through.

Its amazing how many people don't realize the best place to be in one of these situations is inside the heavy metal box specifically designed to protect the rider from the other heavy metal boxes on the road.

I have a favorite funny story involving people not knowing this. A long time ago, our company was working with consultants, who were all top grads from top schools. One week we didn't meet, however the consultants worked at our company in Dallas. Dallas got hit with an ice storm on the day they were going to leave, and Dallas shuts down for these storms, so they decide to head straight to the airport (in different cars).

The consultant who had some combo of being a grad and having a Masters from Stanford and Harvard and a Californian, lost control of his car as it approached a T intersection with a small hill straight ahead. He decided to blare his horn and flash his lights, which alerted the other drivers to stop. Right before he got to the intersection, he unbuckled, opened his door, threw himself out of his car, and did a roll on the messy street. His car stopped in the intersection, stopping way before the hill. He got up, got into his car, and drove to the airport, half covered in mud.

Of course later in the winter when we had to drive somewhere, we didn't allow him to drive.

Going to enjoy the warm weather in Florida by watch the Daytona 500 today!

Got more snow than I was expecting, ended up breaking the 4 wheeler snow blade (2nd time this year). Had to reschedule a couple tax clients until next Sunday because there is no way they'd be able to get down our gravel road.

My first race was supposed to be March 8-9, but at this rate we might be able to start the season mid May.

SW suburb of Omaha here got at least 4 inches if not more. That was a bit more than I wanted to tackle this morning.
I went into the office at 4am. I was guessing 4-5. My truck only had about another 1/2 inch on it when I went out to get something to eat at 8:30
Gonna have to clean the walks when I get home. :(

When do we expect this to stop in central Iowa? I have to go plow but they won't let us plow until it stops
