Really poor luck wouldn't result in a really good offense ranking.
You do realize that going to two posts is a different offensive set that we have run for lets see 100% of our offensive sets and while Lard me be top 5 player available tonight it doesn't mean he or Jacobson can play the 4 in a four guard set. Or perhaps you plan on us just winging it with an entirely new offense.
Nothing in the front court has changed with Babb and Shayok out. Wigginton is this second best player on the team, he is first into the lineup. After that, Prohm has NEVER played two bigs this season, and it's convenient Talley had his best games against wvu last season, and saw extended minutes against them in the first game this season.
Add to that, Lard is coming off being suspended from their previous game. I'd be absolutely shocked if he started, nor do I think he should. And I think it says nothing about his and Prohm's relationship.
Meh, not starting Lard is a suitable punishment for his actions without actually impacting the chance of a win. If anything, given Lard’s foul rate, not starting him is nearly a requisite to having him available later in the game.
I agree though that some benefit can be gained from these injuries if other lineups are explored. Perhaps we find something that helps later... Talley at the 4, THT/Talley as point forwards, two posts, zone etc.
We should have been playing more 2 big sets before this. So yes I hope this coaching staff can adjust. So you would sit our better players so we can play our lessor players because we cannot adapt to need? Plus maybe having a game where we just wing it might surprise us. What we currently have been doing has produced a 4-4 record and most of our worst played games of the season. If there was ever a time to change things up I think tonight might be that night.
That’s not the contention. A team with a better KenPom offense than actual offense often leads to “bad luck” in KenPom.
That poster is looking at the wrong end of the court, but it is fair to say we’re one of the teams that has a disconnect between continuum metrics like KenPom and the situational ability to win P5 games. It’s good, but not the elite that it’s rated.

Glad everyone focuses on the fact I didn't have his high school career correct instead of the main point I was trying to make which is coming off a summer with a lot of buzz as a top NBA prospect and Big XII player of the year candidate, Wiggy gets hurt and is relegated to a bench role which he hasn't done in a long time, if ever. I'm not excusing him and the visible lack of effort on defense at times, and I'm glad Jacobson called him out, but he's far from the main reason we're on this skid and I'm sure it's tough to stay relegated to the bench when your team has been on a negative trajectory for almost a month, so I can understand a 19-20 year old kid acting a little immature and not handling that situation properly.

the "luck" stat isnt actually measuring "luck". Its "the metric is saying this, but the results are saying this". To me, a good reason for that difference could be that the team isnt as good as the KP thinks it is.
Im sorry, no team with the kind of droughts we see routinely in games of several minutes without any sort of scoring, is a top 10 offense. I know some people treat KP like its some sort of basketball deity, but its not perfect.

Big 12 basketball is tough. In the overall sense, it’s understandable that all of our players would struggle. But Wigginton is getting starter minutes and a close second in usage during conference play despite being one of the more apathetic players on defense. Few things would help more than him playing to his potential as a lead guard on both ends, which imo he has yet to do.
Sucks about the fight, but I’m happy conditt is playing hard and not apologizing for it. And I’m happy Jacobson is saying what everyone else already sees. This season isn’t trending in the right direction but it gives me hope for next year

Talley has an argument, George does too. and I think talley should. But lard has in no way shape or form earned a start with his conduct.
