But I will say, those who don’t want Fred to get another college coaching job likely secretly want him as our head coach still.

I do not mind him coaching college again.

I just hoped it would not be in the Big 12, nearby, or with a hated rival.

At least this is only 2/3 instead of some 3/3 malarkey with KU.

Seeing the Hoiberg name in Bruins blue and gold would not bother me much.

Seeing it in Nebraska scarlet and cream makes me want to throw up.

Man....if Fred goes to Nebraska.. why not go back to the NBA front office...just wtf..

I still remember one year after the clones kicked nebraskas ass in football and the visiting fans angrily screaming yeah wait til next year...that's the kind of fan nebraska has...sshit talking after a loss.

I could get behind Fred at Nebraska. I didn't really care what he did after he left for the NBA, but at least if he goes to Nebbie we'll get to see him beat up on the Hoks with little chance that we'd play them outside of a home/home deal that we'd purposefully work out for a non-important non-con game. Much better than if he lands at a blueblood and wins multiple championships. I don't think I could handle the ISU fanbase under that scenario.

You know this is going to actually happen. This has the markings of a classic CF thread:

1- Poster comes out of nowhere with a crazy idea.

2- Idea is corroborated but not linked by other posters.

3- Details start to line up.

4- It happens.

The salary numbers floating around match up. From the posts in this thread, it sounds like he has an offer at the minimum.

I can see people that went to ISU in the late 80s/early to mid 90s absolutely hating it because they were in or close to college in both the haydays of Fred as a player and Nebraska at ultimate hatred to ISU athletics.

I’d like it if he came back. Because it’d prove that I was right. I take a lot of **** be here for saying that he’ll coach in college again.

And go back to when he left, no one was saying he’d coach in college again. Everyone was talking about dream jobs and how it wasn’t about money. And now you’re saying it is about the money.

To say it was never about the money was disingenuous. An aspect of it was coaching in the NBA and an aspect of it was the money. Pollard is a very good AD but he wasn’t going to pay Fred what he was worth when the health of the football program wasn’t that great. Fred was one of the lower paid coaches in the Big 12 and Pollard essentially told fans on the summer tour that they were close to the limit of what they could pay Fred and that some of those costs would be passed onto the fans. It was a ****** move but being “frugal” is JP’s MO and at the time it was a move that had to be made because football was stagnant.

So if Fred coached at Nebraska, that would mean the two head coaches of the main colleges in the state are former ISU coaches? Who is the UNO coach? Does he have any ISU ties?

Screw this. Nebraska can gf themselves. I'd root for him to win at Duke before I'd want him to succeed at Nebraska.

I would think Fred would wait until the end of the nba season to see what jobs are open. If he takes Nebraska whenever they are done with the NIT I’ll be really confused.
