It really makes me wonder if Matt Campbell has a couple more very successful years and decides to leave and leaves a good team behind, how much he would be hated. Would be pretty sad to see.

Angry? I was a little nasty about ku and msu because I hate those schools based on my lifelong fandom of ISU basketball. Dogging on his NBA coaching career is stating facts. I am super grateful for what he did at ISU as a player and coach. I have a ******* poster of the guy up in my house.

He left. I'm fine with that and wish him well. But I also didn't forget that he left.

I’m going to extrapolate from that response that you are under the age of 18 otherwise I’m not sure why you would have a poster of another adult male in your house.

Wouldn’t love this but the guy wants to coach and be close to family so I guess I could see it.
A poster on that 4th rate hak forum said it would be a huge “FU to ISU”. Anyone who thinks that does not know Fred or his relationship with this university.

It’s proof positive that ISU was just another job to him.

FU requires malice, and I don’t think he has malice, but it’s obvious ISU doesn’t mean that much to him.

I wouldn't blame him for moving on to a new opportunity.

I would want him to provide his input on who his replacement should be. He's created the blueprint for moving ISU football forward, and it'd be a shame if we squandered it.

It's fine to be a little disappointed with how his departure went down (recruiting gap, having to find a coach in June), but Fred was overall a net positive for ISU basketball. I'll always be thankful for him making ISU basketball fun again, and back on the national scene. And I'm sure he's thankful to ISU for giving him his big break.

It'll be weird if he does end up back in college, but ISU has moved on and is doing just fine under Prohm. No reason to be upset with him.
I agree. Except that this is one of the three schools ISU fans tend to dislike the most. Except when they play Iowa, then Nebraska rocks.

Ultimately, as long as it's not Iowa, I don't really care. Go Cyclones!

ISU doesn’t mean that much to him. Still donates at the highest level. Still comes to football games. Still came to our basketball games and met with the team. He is a better “fan” in that regard than 85% of the message board posters on here.

oh buddy this is not good take
WTF makes Texas A&M a better basketball job than Nebraska? Am I missing something? Hoiberg could win just as easily at Nebraska as he could A&M. Nebraska has better fans, a better arena, Lincoln is no worse than college station, Nebraska is willing to spend unlimited money to win, and the Big Ten is a way better basketball league than the SEC.

Except maybe recruiting?

Recruiting is most definitely in A&M’s favor, and so is success and money. Just those three small things.
It's freaking basketball. Nobody is going to A&M for anything they have in their rafters. Players go to play for the coach. Hoiberg could bring in 3-4 transfers and have them winning in one year. Do you really think the players he landed at ISU came here because of our great tradition? **** no! They came to play for Fred.

This just isn’t true at all. The bitterness is just consuming some people.

Saying this wasn’t more than a job is bitter? I’m pretty pleased with Prohm. And Prohm actually wants to be here.

I’m not bitter, but I don’t see why I’m supposed to celebrate a former coach who left us coaching a nearby program that I absolutely loathe.
