It’s not Morgan’s fault that Stinson and Blalock hated McDermott so much that they both decided to forgo their senior years in a terrible decision to try to go pro. Stinson, Blalock and Clark would have been a pretty good foundation, I think. Didn’t Carr transfer that summer as well?

Also, you can't really blame Morgan for how he left the team...he was "ushered" out.

He’s a great coach with a great reputation, and he is considering Nebraska? Really? I think not.

Why are you so high in Nebraska basketball? It’s very weird.
It’s very weird how obsessed you are with everything Freddy. Nebraska just isn’t as bad of a job as some are making it out to be, that is all. If they really are willing to shell out 4 mil/yr to get a coach, they should be able to find someone qualified.

You should check my other posts in this thread. I’m fine with Fred going back to college. I want him to coach my timberwolves first and for most, but he wants to be back in college I’m ok with it.

I think UNLV and UCLA are better jobs for him though. Nebraska doesn’t have any past success and is a football first school. I just think he can do better and should do better. Nebraska is a step down from Iowa State.

I don't want Fred anywhere near that scummy program in Las Vegas.

It’s proof positive that ISU was just another job to him.

FU requires malice, and I don’t think he has malice, but it’s obvious ISU doesn’t mean that much to him.

Everybody is from somewhere.

The reality is he tried to leave for 3 years. He didn’t leave the program in great shape 2 years after he left because he didn’t bring in any one to bridge the gap, and we won 12 games last year because of it.

The idea that people are so determined to protect his legacy is odd. We can all be appreciative of what he did in Ames. But we can also be realistic about it as well.

The pr interview with the espn guys was him trying to resell himself. Now he’s looking at living in Lincoln. Be interesting to see how he does if he goes there, or if he will wait for Lebron to hire him, since he’s so respected in nba circles apparently, lol.

ISU doesn’t mean that much to him. Still donates at the highest level. Still comes to football games. Still came to our basketball games and met with the team. He is a better “fan” in that regard than 85% of the message board posters on here.

You’re continuing to try to hard.

So how are you related to him?

Saying this wasn’t more than a job is bitter? I’m pretty pleased with Prohm. And Prohm actually wants to be here.

I’m not bitter, but I don’t see why I’m supposed to celebrate a former coach who left us coaching a nearby program that I absolutely loathe.

Because the Fred fanboys and relatives tell you too.

Uni went through this with chewey. He still donates a shitload to the school, he still proclaims his fandom. Uni Fan sees the actions no biggie.

What is going to be awful is when the team struggles again, the fanboys will be all over it with how wonderful Fred is.

I do wonder with the emphasis in recruiting transfers exactly how he’s going to jump start that program.

Also, was Taggart a Morgan recruit, or was he a McD get? I know he never played for Morgan, just can’t remember if he played McD’s first year or after that (then transferred to Memphis).

He played his first year in Ames, and got sick in the preseason, lost a bunch of weight and never got going.

He worked out for McDermott and decided he wanted to leave. Calipari was just getting to Memphis. He went there

Was Fred banging some of your guys wives? I do not understand the Fred Hoiberg hate on here. Guy played here when he could have gone anywhere, was an all American here. He single handily resurrected the program and left 4 NBA players for the next coach. I mean what else do you want from the guy? Hell if not for the chris Babb and George’s Niamg injuries he might have gotten to a couple final fours. And I might add the guys heart was failing.

It is possible to like both Fred and prohm, the two are not mutually exclusive. I don’t get the hate here.

Fred has done as much for Iowa state than any human alive and done it well. The reason the bulls wanted him is because he’s a great coach and did well here.

So he took a job in the Nba for 25 million. so what? What’s the problem with that?

I don’t like him going to Nebraska, it’s bad for Iowa state if he does that..just in the sense I don’t want another good program in the area, but if it happens, my guess is he is using it as leverage for another job, but we can’t stop him. He has every right to do it if he wants.

I just get sick of one of our all time greats getting drug through the mud for no reason
