You people talking up Lincoln as a city......I’m starting to wonder if you’ve ever actually been there. Or if you’re mistaking Lincoln for Omaha? Lincoln is a **** hole.
It may be a **** hole, but it still has 65,000 more people than Des Moines (without the nearby cities). The Omaha-Lincoln corridor has more than a million. There's a reason that Interstate 80 is six lanes now between Lincoln and Omaha and 8 lanes in Omaha.

That being said...would much rather live in Des Moines than Lincoln.

Thankfully, you know Fred will be in DSM to watch his son in the NCAA and his old pal Reggie Miller on the call. Maybe RandyPete/Hines can corner him and get some stuff on the record, lol.

I know this is going to be hard to understand because idiots usually don't understand that they're idiots. But you're an idiot.

Using words you don’t understand again.

And the irony of you calling another living organism an idiot is just staggering

Your self awareneness is as strong as your basketball knowledge

This just has all the makings of an ex that cheats on you, and you got a new girlfriend that is great, but you just want the ex to be single forever because she dumped you.
Seems half the folk on here want to dump current girlfriend to get back the cheater so noone else can have her.

IF Fred comes back to college coaching, he will do whatever he and his family thinks is best for them obviously.

I think everyone on here can agree that Fred has been an amazing ambassador to ISU through the years and put the program on the map as a player and back on the map as a coach. His departure stung due to the timing, but I get it - he had had a recent brush with his own mortality and saw an opportunity to grasp his career dream of coaching in the NBA.

If Fred coaches in college again, the fan nervousness to me stems from two areas. 1. If he coaches any team to a final 4/championship, the question will always be whether he would have done that here if he stayed and 'why couldn't that be us'? 2. If we lose recruits to him at a geographically close school like Nebraska, KU, etc. I am less concerned with #2, as Prohm and his assistants have shown a phenomenal ability to recruit. That isn't going to change if Hoiberg re-enters the market. We may lose a recruiting battle against him, but so what, we lose recruiting battles to Self too. Also, regarding #1, who knows - Prohm may coach us to a final 4/championship - he has certainly shown the ability to build and coach a team!

Fred will do what is best for him and his family, and he should. I am sure he does consider his legacy at ISU when making these decisions, but I'm also sure it will not dictate every decision he makes for his family's future.

Or we could not worry about any of that.

This would be a huge surprise. I honestly thought he would never come back to college but he would find another NBA gig.

Same, everyone knows that he never had a chance in Chicago so I figured he could probably get a low level HC gig.

The rumors of his interest make me think his job options are a lot more limited than I would have guessed.

Did you move that dog from Hawaii to Virginia?

I never brought him to Hawaii. I originally was going to fly him over after he passed all of his state required blood tests, but then when I got approval from the state I started reading a bunch of horror stories of dogs that flew in the luggage area of planes. Plus it’s required to be above a certain temp and below a certain temp at both the place they leave and the place they arrive and it’s very hard to coordinate that in Iowa and Hawaii, so he ended up staying with my mom for the three years I lived in Hawaii. He’s the reason I ended up transferring to Minneapolis though, so I could get him back.

I still think he takes the Timberworlves job when the season is all over. Maybe this is just to put pressure on them to make an offer.

I bet when he was staying with Grandma is when he got fat.

As a T-wolves fan, I would hope the HC job certainly isn't offered to him.
Fred was a disaster in the front office there, and he was a disaster at Chicago (the team is playing harder now for a coach who demands it).

Chicago is playing harder? I haven't seen that.
Then you haven't watched them play recently. Playing with much more defensive effort. And just what did Fred do in Minnesota's front office, besides going around the country scouting college players - that resulted in horrid draft picks?

I’m not so sure that’s going to be an option.

I could absolutely see him using this to keep his name out there. But I think there’s genuine interest, and he would certainly be inclined to take it
