I have no issues with whatever it is Fred does next or where he coaches. However, that doesn't mean everyone has to think he has God-like status either. There is no one way to think about it.

Some people feel scorned and don't see him in the same light. That's fine. Others still get their little chubby when thinking about him. That's alright too.
And some don't give a rat's a** if he sinks or swims. Unless you know him, he is not that important. Just makes for good sports talk.

I live around a few Husker football fans here in Omaha and the vast majority seem to be passionate and hopeful that their team can return to being a nationally competitive team. Same as how the vast majority of ISU basketball fans I know were before Hoiberg was hired and it happened. They fill Memorial Stadium every game even when they are struggling, same as ISU does for their teams. Not one Husker fan I know thinks they are ever going to rip off 3 national titles in 4 seasons again. Both fan bases have a delusional 2% at the extreme end of the spectrum. Don't base opinion of any fan base off your interaction with folks from the delusion 2%.
Being in the Omaha area I’d say you are describing the 2%, the rest are delusional. I heard over and over again how they were going to win the Big 10 last year because they had Frost.

If I've watched enough Dateline, this love triangle isn't going to end well.

This is the part of the horror movie where I'm like...

-- Why don't you just turn some lights on?

-- Why do you keep splitting up?

-- Why don't you just get out of the house?

-- Why did you just leave the locked house?

-- Why don't you just call the police?

-- The iPhone sure ruins a lot of horror concepts from the 80s, eh?

You didn't address the 8-lane interstate advantage. That is absolutely critical in comparing locations dang it.

Well Des Moines has to split the interstate as it goes through the city and has a freeway to the south and a 4 lane leaving to the west 3 miles from I 8, plus 2 other 2 lanes feeding into the metro from the east. How is that.

Maybe Fred wants to go where he can make money and win. The Big 10 has 3 good programs in it and Ohio State is up and down. So that means there are 10 other teams to beat up on, and Nebraska has the facilities and fan support to rise to the top of that mediocre conference while getting paid. The Michigan schools are as good as Duke, UNC, or Kansas so eventually he could challenge for some conference championships. It's still Nebraska though, and I don't know who would actually want to live there, but from a job perspective I get it.

It’s proof positive that ISU was just another job to him.

FU requires malice, and I don’t think he has malice, but it’s obvious ISU doesn’t mean that much to him.
Could be, but there’s also the issue of ISU not being open. Nebraska and Minnesota are the next closest in that sense. He brought ISU back, wanted to ultimately try the NBA gig, and now he wants his job to “just be a job” (with some personal connection).

The manner in which he left and the degree in which he allowed potential jobs to impact the work at ISU suggests there’s some truth to your assertion imo, but I don’t think he viewed ISU as “just another job” as much as his work/mission complete and it was time to give the NBA a try. That, and perhaps there’s some truth to JP not helping things.

Yeah right. Like really, why? I'm not blowing it off, being dead serious. Why in the world would he want to stick his foot into that $h!*show with all of his other options and no need for extra income?

Because his last effort was a colassal failure. He’s still young. He thinks he can win. His name gets him a huge contract

As a T-wolves fan, I would hope the HC job certainly isn't offered to him.
Fred was a disaster in the front office there, and he was a disaster at Chicago (the team is playing harder now for a coach who demands it).

Kinda where I am but it's an unpopular opinion. We didn't test new success highs at ISU but the Bulls sure tested failure lows. Same as T-wolves.

He coached most of last year without a full roster, same as this year at the beginning and when you don't have a full roster of your best guys and your best guys are already one of the worst in the league. You aren't going to do much.

?

Same with CSP but we're in the tourney and won our conference championship.

As long as he stays out of the Big 12 and Iowa, I don’t care what he does. However, it seems like the most unlikely always happens to Iowa State, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Iowa or Kansas someday

They have won a few more games bc they got Lauri and Dunn back and then added Porter for the last 15 or so games but it isn’t do to superior coaching
@Cat Stevens since you disagree. You don’t think adding two starters and another legit starter at the 3 has led to winning a couple more games than they did at the beginning of the year when they had a rookie starting and a couple gleague level guys starting? Do you even watch thr NBA? You don’t have players and you don’t win. Simple as that. Does Fred have faults? Yeah as a lot of coaches do. Not sure why you have such an obvious bias against the guy.
