It will be interesting to see how he puts a roster together. The transfer thing has changed and while he did bring in 4 good Freshmen in his time at ISU, he also had a lot of misses.

He's got to have his Niang piece figured out already. Hoiball without the high post scorer/passer probably doesn't get very far. And that is a skill set every coach is already after.

Bad timing with the Lipsey recruitment about to heat up. Hopefully he will at least beat the hawks.

Fred never looked seriously at an Iowa kid when he was in Ames. It would be odd that the first Iowa kid he goes after is while he is coaching at Nebraska.

It has changed in that there's more schools recruiting, but there's also way more transfers available. I could see him going very heavy with grad transfers, especially this first season.

Transfers, particularly grad transfers, are just like free agents. Small recruiting windows, use them to supplement your roster, and if they don't turn out, then they're not taking up space.

And did anyone think Cael would turn a 2-time team national champ (1920s and 1950s) PSU into winners of 8 out of the last 9 team national championships?
I dont know, is Nebraska a hot bed for basketball recruiting like Pennsylvania is for wrestling?

It will be interesting to see how he recruits. Blue-bloods were not in the transfer game when he was here; whole new recruiting world now then when he left here. His comments on recruiting will be used against him by other coaches.

He was seriously involved with both Jok and Abrahamson until Lefty screwed it all up and we had to stop recruiting them. Jok would have been a Cyclone.

I'm pretty sure Lefty was sitting in the Michigan State section near the Hoiberg's (not Fred as he was not there on Saturday) on Saturday in Des Moines.
