Because the viewers or readers are so obsessed with it. If there wasn't a market for it they wouldn't cover it. If you Fred lovers stop talking about him, it will magically go away. And next time someone in the media tweets about Fred, don't respond.

(When I say "You Fred lovers" not talking about the person I replied to)

IDK in a market like DSM the media likes to drum up and pre-create this “obsession” and then really stick it in by saying “YOU wanted this” the next day. Murph is really bad with that. Gets all defensive when people call him out on it.

Try Living in western Iowa with omaha/huskers news coverage out of control. Central Iowa coverage will be bad as well but this hire also helps football recruiting. Bill Moos has made two amazing hires of two of the hottest names in their sports. Someone said something about Frost being at the press conference. Dont the other coaches usually come and support the new hire if they can. Imagine what exciting basketball will do for Nebraska football recruiting. It will be huge for Frost and company if they get some excitement from the basketball program and same for basketball when Frost gets it rolling. Frost and Fred will be a two headed recruiting and winning machine in Lincoln. I'm ecstatic with Campbell and Prohm but Frost and Fred will be recruiting the same players. Nebraska has already taken some of our good football recruits as their fall back options. This is why it stings so much more it will make ISU coaches jobs much more difficult.

Oh, I agree with you & it’s unfortunate and it stings. And no we don’t have to like it. But I also don’t think we can say mean, vindictive things (like some have)to people who have meant so much to us. Instead, in Campbell & Prohm we march on!!

Actually we can say whatever we want.

Well, obviously, within reason. But is that the type of fan base we are, the ones that go out of their way to be cruel cuz we were hurt? If you had initially good years with a lovely spouse and had two great kids, both who mean a lot to both of you....but circumstances were such that you divorced...are you just going to bad mouth and make cruel accusations in front of those kids??

This is a pretty dumb analogy. I will say that I’d be a lot more easy going about all of this if there weren’t media members and posters like you telling everyone what they should think. The cult of hoiberg is strong.

That Nebraska roster is a big yikes right now and Hoiberg says he plans on taking the same approach he did at ISU. Sorry Freddy but the transfer landscape is completely different now. But good luck!

And ‘you’ are not telling everyone how they should think about every time you react and post????
All my point was is I don’t like cruel accusations, those that are exaggerated due to spite. Do I like and appreciate Hoiberg? Yes. And feel crappy about Nebr.’s luck in all this. Do I like and appreciate Prohm? You bet I do. He’s been all class and a good coach.

This absolutely tells me the NBA isn't off the table at all.

Oh absolutely Fred would go back to the league if it’s in the cards. You wont see a Minnesota gophers situation this time.

He needs to get some time between himself and bulls experience. Hopefully, for his sake, he gets that chance.

I’m surprised Nebraska didn’t push for more of an nba buyout. GarPax is so stupid they’ll probably try to hire him again.

With the situation nebbie basketball is in, they can’t appear as a stepping stone for another college job after the investment they made to bring Fred in.

It would be a much easier narrative to control if he leaves if he went to the league. Much better than if he was there for 3-4 years, won some games and went to a better college job.

One thing I noticed from Fred's interview with Keith Murphy is he said he was happy to turn around the ISU program and was happy for coach Prohm for taking it to the next level. Is he referring to taking recruiting to the next level? If so I can agree with him, if hes talking about taking the program to the next level I dont know what hes talking about.

We were 3 seeds and going to the Sweet 16 and winning tournament games, to me taking that to the next level is getting to Elite 8's or Final 4's, with an occasional chance at a Big 12 championship, getting 1 or 2 seeds. Instead they've gotten 5 and 6 seeds, I dont know what level he's talking about but his comments made no sense.
