After the Mizzou game in '04, I kinda shrugged it off thinking "these guys are young. They'll be back. We'll make that kick next time." No big deal.

And I was sorta right. 2 outta 3 ain't bad, but it didn't stop me from going to the bottom of a bottle of Black Velvet, getting blacklisted on the Paul Clark ran Cyclone Report, and getting kicked out of the Surf Ballroom the night after the KU game.

What if I had been old enough to drink during that season?

Matt Campbell isn't our coach today.

I have a feeling that 10 years from now that KSU meltdown will go down as one of the most pivotal moments in Cyclone history.

I agree completely. If Rhoads doesn't choke that game away, it buys him one more season and Campbell gets a job somewhere else.

Yeah, '05 could've been a truly special season. It should have been. It was a now or never season that sealed Dan's fate. Win the OT games (don't let them get there) and it's a ten win season and trip to the big 12 championship game.

That team might go down as one of the most fragile ISU football teams and that's saying something.

Let's just say they weren't great with adversity.

That didn't change a lot from an ISU centric perspective.

Nationally, it changed everything. We don't have the playoffs if OK State wins out in 2011.

Disagree.

That game provided pretty much all of the highlights for hit tapes for like two seasons. :)

Seriously I think that game took up a bunch of a video that ISU showed recruits.

I remember that game oh so well, as most of us probably do --

My fiancée/now wife were watching the game at home.

We wore our lovely cardinal-white-cardinal outfits.

We left with maybe 5:00 left in the game... thought we had it won/had a plane to catch.

Got intermittent updates from my ESPN app on the Metro. Eventually realized that we lost. I was not even angry about it. I was just flabbergasted at that point.

A day or two later, we are back in Iowa for Thanksgiving, and I was driving between Boone and Ames for some reason. Heck, might have been to pick up some Hickory Park takeout for the family. Can't have too much meat/turkey Thanksgiving week.

...when my phone pinged me... Rhoads out.

That one was just about as shocking. I thought he had done enough to warrant one more year to right the ship. Until the Manhattan Monstrosity went down.

I think I know the answer to it that they would have lost the next round due to dysfunction but what if Tinsley's layup doesn't defy every act of physics imaginable and goes in like it had 1,000 times before?

Wasn't CPR out like the day after it happened?
