Do you tip for a takeout order?

I know the industry very well and yes, it’s completely ****** how things work. Look at the lawsuits against lajames. I just also know what those people are promised going into school and what the reality is. FYI, if you pay with a card, the taxes can’t be avoided.
The hours are awful, you make terrible money if you don’t have the funds to work for yourself. Those places like great clips keep their employees at 30 hours a week so they don’t have to pay out benefits. My wife got out of both working and teaching in the industry and hasn’t looked back. The amount you pay in Iowa for schooling is atrocious for the schools to use the students as free labor. My wife worked for multiple schools in the area and all of them are shady AF.
I dont really order a lot of take out but I do stop in and get breakfeast burritos a couple of times a week. If you can tell me my order (one hot) you get a buck. Thats my rule. If all i have to say is yes then i tip if I have to order no tip.
I'll tip a few bucks most time.
My tipping philosophy goes:
20% normal sit down
$1 a person + $1 drink at buffets
10% on take out
$5 or $10 for delivery (whichever is closer to 15%)
$10 haircuts
$10 house keeping
30% on company card
$1 a drink at bars (unless it's a fancy cocktail place then it's 15%)

I tip about half of what I normally would on take out at a sit down restaurant. For example, PF Changs or Applebees. If it is a fast casual place that I'm just taking to go, I don't tip at all.
We should discuss the pay it forward at coffee shops though. A few weeks ago I was waiting in the drive through lane at Starbucks for a long time. I get to the front and the person in front had paid for me. The cashier asks me if I want to pay for the next person. Begrudging I said yes. He then tells me their bill is $16.50 compared to my $4.50 bill. I pay it because I already have a $20 bill out and I'm trying to be more generous. But I'm still sort of irritated about it which means that I am not that generous in real life

I tip 20% sit down and delivery. 10% if the service is bad, and nothing if they piss me off. Usually $5 tip for haircuts.

We are frequent customers to our neighborhood restaurant, so I will typically tip a couple bucks on pickup.

I usually give the person cutting my hair $3 or so. Last time I got my hair cut it was $19 or so and took 10 minutes top. That is up substantially over the last few years.I know wait staff is paid pretty poorly with the anticipation of making a lot of their money on tips.
Never tip on a carryout order. I drove my butt over there to get it. None of the workers did anything to deserve a tip.

If the lady at Sport Clips or Great Clips shuts her mouth and pays attention to cutting my hair, she gets a $2 tip. If she's yacking to coworkers and frequently stops so they can chat, she gets nothing.

Take-out shouldn't be tipped for. They prepared food for you, which is what you already pay for. If I have to wait and they offer a drink or something I might tip a dollar. If I show up, grab food and leave there is nothing to tip for. That would be like tipping a fast food place. If they are friendly, I may round up to the nearest dollar but that's it.
That said, if I'm getting takeout and notice the place is obviously understaffed and the employee who gets me my food (in a reasonable time) has been hoofing it like crazy around the place taking care of stuff I'm likely to give them something.

as soon as i realized folks expect a tip on the tax i refuse to go to establishments that expect tips. never ever will i ever tip on the tax. absurd
