Iowa State is usually Iowa’s toughest out of conference opponent. Sells out. Replace the other cream puffs that don’t draw the sellout crowds. Or just admit the Hawks are afraid to play.

There has been an abundance of talk lately about Iowa fans wanting to play someone different. I know this talk has happened in the past, I also know that Iowa has beaten us the past 4 times, but is it a coincidence that Iowa State is being talked about as a Big 12 contender and is showing up in numerous preseason rankings and now Iowa fans say they don't want to play us?

ISU and Iowa fans are both delusional on who they’d actually be able to replace that game with. ISU isn’t going to get Wisconsin or Minnesota to agree to a home/home nor is Iowa going to get Oklahoma or Notre Dame like they think they would. Even if either school could get a high profile game, itd take 7+ years to get it on schedule and who knows what would change in that time.

This definitely has something to do with it. The other part of me says it's their over-inflated egos that make them think they can actually "compete" with the power houses from other conferences. Them playing in the cupcake that is the B1G West has them thinking they actually are one of the power houses.

I have never understood the infatuation some people have with getting rid of this series. It's good for the state and it's good for the pocket books of the schools. If both teams can actually manage to stay around the top 25 for the next few years, it could actually become a lot more important to the TV audience in general as well. If you really are that good, you'll get your chance to play Alabama or Clemson, etc. It's kind of delusional that Iowa or Iowa State thinks for that matter that they are going to replace this game with any other kind of power house from a P5 conference.

and don't even talk about the idiocy of football scheduling to begin with.

Those dates are when UW was previously scheduled to play Virginia Tech. Per a release from the Badgers, that series will now be played in 2031 and 2032.

Somewhere today, there's a kid going into first grade who gets to play football at Wisconsin and play against virginia tech in 2032.

Those cowards can play two other out-of-conference games if they want it that bad. They can't help but schedule MAC and Sun Belt teams though.

Agreed. I saw some Iowa fans saying "Well Wisconsin is playing Alabama, and we're just as good as them". No, no you're not.

Iowa hides behind the "extra home game" excuse because they are a bunch of pu$$ies. Either nut up and play another P5 Non con game or quit complaining. God forbid Kirk didn't have a golden path to his 8 win bonus...

And now that it's becoming consistently true, Iowa wants the game off their schedule.

This isnt a new topic for Iowa fans, not sure why you think it is.

I like the game and think it should stay but this just didnt pop up in the last few months.

Wisconsin and Minnesota play home and homes with much worse programs.

Minnesota would love to do it. They'd get another sell out in TCF that year (in addition to whomever they play between Iowa and Wisconsin at home).
