Where they love the governor
OK, here's my pick....
Mike Leach. He coached at Iowa Wesleyan, so there's a connection. We just played them in the bowl game last year, there's another connection. Former conference foe coach, yet another connection. WSU plays Friday night, so he could catch a red-eye to Des Moines to be on-set.

If I need to add any indication that I'm being sarcastic, I don't know what to tell you.

Iowa State has no choice in the matter from the sounds of it. While we love them and they are near and dear to us: to think (2) career back up nfl quarterbacks who outside of the state of Iowa everyone has long since forgotten about, or an old football coach who outside of the state of Iowa and a small college in Texas no one knows, or a local fan favorite who sees minimal minutes on the basketball court is going to be chosen by ESPN, we are just setting ourselves up for bitter disappointment.

This is going to be no different then Super Bowl Halftime show. EVERYONE (outside of Iowa included) will hear the name, recognize the name and watch their stunt. Us cyclone fans will sit there just like most people do at the Super Bowl Halftime show, and walk away questioning their pick. Sorry.

We should just be happy that Game Day is in town and people all over the sports world will see our beautiful stadium in the back.

The choice for picker is interesting, not important. I think you're confused.

You know i was just thinking, Sylvester Stallone and Brad Pitt, both have movies opening up this weekend, or someone like that on a promotional tour I could see. Especially if they want a big time star and do not necessarily go with someone connected with one of the teams.

Not following you on how I'm confused.

Did everyone from Los Angeles to New York and their dog not know it was going to be Matthew McConaughey as soon as Austin was Game Day? If guest picker is as big of a deal as we are making it, it is because ESPN has marketed it correctly. Do you really think they will let Seneca Wallace hold their coveted title to Celebrity Picker. My point is we know and love him, yes. Maybe 2 people in Seattle remember he was a back up quarterback for a few years. But to think ESPN, who is kind of pretty good at what they do, is going to waste an opportunity to capture attention nationwide just to throw a bone to the local Ames fan base isnt going to happen.

Again, I hope I eat crow for halftime of the game.

Brad Pitt does not exactly seem like an 'Iowa' kind of guy.

While I agree I was just using those two as examples, they could pick someone from one of the upcoming movies, or upcoming Fall ABC shows too. Not that those would be my choices. But these are their choices not mine or ours, so we have to think about that.
