With youtube tv I can watch two games at once: one on my laptop and one on my tv. Internet speeds and whether you get it in your area would be the issues.

Can you pause a game and jump ahead 30 seconds between plays?

I'll be at the game. I just want to DVR gameday and watch it later, hopefully with a glass of Weller, neat, celebrating a great win

I just had to no surprise conversation with a customer service person that barely spoke English and she said that they are sorry with how unfortunate this might be and if it happens they will discount for those channels. I asked her when they are expecting this to happen and it could happen anytime from now to the end of the month. But she told me they have plenty of other sport channel options beyond espn lol.

Was his name Fred? I've talked to him a couple of times.

I just looked. I can on my laptop. I don't think I can on my tv, but that might be a combination of how I'm doing it (it's coming straight through the tv not an hdmi) and not having the right tv control/knowing the right buttons

I've been watching alternate streaming sources for quite a while. Aside from the start of the season and the first few minutes of a game (and sometimes the very end of the game if your system has lagged for a while), it really has become my preferred way to view games at my home. Just watch out for the 'download this download helper app' close extra open windows as they appear, and clean your system after your done (also disconnect sensitive data drives before you do any of this).

Yes, YouTubeTV's DVR works great, just like Dish or DirecTV's. I never thought I would leave Dish because of sports, but YouTubeTV has everything that Dish or DTV has at a fraction of the price, plus DVR and multiple screens.

Only Cyclone and Hawkeye fans will go out of the way to get ESPN through alternate sources. Casual college football fans won't. This is the most Cyclone thing ever, we finally get game day and a lot of people won't even see it.

Direct TV is going to take a massive subscriber loss on this if they don't cave. I have been with them 15 years and I will figure out something different if they don't settle it.

My biggest complaint w/ streaming live sports is the lag. A buddy uses Sling and is always behind me watching on DTV. "Great play!" "What? I'm in commercial?" It would make it harder to sync up the audio when I mute the tv and use the Tune In Radio app to listen to John and Eric instead. With DTV, the streamed audio is usually a second or two behind the broadcast, but close enough that I don't bother syncing. OTA radio is usually another second or two ahead, annoys me more.

The simplicity of cable/dish is that it just works. I know cutting the cord would save me $, but the convenience is worth something to me. I have another buddy that had a full page spreadsheet when he cut the cord, just to track which source/app/device he would use to watch the shows he and his wife watched. Seemed like a giant pain, just to be entertained. And he doesn't watch sports, a whole new layer of ugh to the streaming mess.

They've done this before in spats with Viacom (MTV, Comedy Central, etc.) I wonder if they have someone watching those feeds and slapping the black bar up when anything anti-DTV comes up? During the Viacom disputes, the "DTV wants more money" bars moved around the screen, sometimes the top, bottom, etc, so someone had to be watching for it, right?

I'm surprised they can get away with that

Not sure what "barely speaking English" had anything to do with the rest of your post, but alright.
