Me as sophomore, "Crap, no more money for groceries because it spent it all on booze and fun this past weekend. Welp, better go donate some plasma so I can continue to fuel my bad decisions."

It was always a tough decision between "do I go and get some food that won't give me diarrhea or do I stick with the $1 Hardee's spicy chicken sandwiches so i have some extra beer funds?"

I'd say I'm a wishy washy atheist. I grew up a Christian, studied eastern religions (Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism) in college and realized that what I'd been taught growing up was largely fiction. But I still go back and forth, leaning toward Christianity and then running from it (mostly due to the Evangelicals). I want to believe, but my logical side says... nah.
Glad to hear you're putting what you might believe to the test. That's the way it should be. I encourage you to read Lee Strobel's, "The Case for Christ". Logic fits great with the Bible as well.

I'm sure some will lash out at me. I don't intend to get in any back and forth on here. I'm not trying to convince you; just give you additional food for thought - just be sure and acknowledge to yourself that it takes faith in some things you don't understand in any position you take; e.g., how do you explain the creation of the world & life, if you can't re-create it? There's faith there, in any position you take.

No flaming at all. But science explains far more about the creation of the universe than faith. Having been a Catholic briefly I always cringed during Communion, "And now let us proclaim the mystery of faith". It is mysterious indeed that rational people continue to toss things up to faith no differently than early pre-science civilizations.

Science and faith are not in conflict. The fact that people believe they are is an example of some of the lies you were referring to above. I agree with Kurttr. I encourage anyone to read the Case for Christ. It doesn't dodge science. It asks science to help answer the question, and science rises to the occasion.

Everytime they test eucharistic miracles and the shroud of Turin it always comes back as AB blood from a heart under distress. There is some science for you.

Lock this and move to the cave and lets have some fun.

Sports and religion dont mix for me. Im sure God is really concerned about what goes on in a football stadium with all the other stuff going on in the world right now.

I just hope JC is on our side this weekend in Whacko.

I tend to agree with this but that doesn’t really apply to this quote. Bringing up religion when discussing humility is perfectly fine with me.

I'll help move it. Most of the bible is regurgitated myths and stories from even older civilizations. The fact people still read it today as anything other than that is sad. However, Jesus probably did in fact exist and seems like he was a cool cat. Its too bad so called christians today use him as an excuse to justify all the horrible things they do to others.

"You who are suffering in the abyss, answer me! Are there any Catholics among you? "There certainly are!" How many? Let one of them come here! "That is impossible, they are too far down, and to have them come up would turn all of hell upside down; it would be easier to stop one of them as he is falling in."

Hey, "Ribs" - two things I like, ribs & whiskey, esp the kind without an 'e' (scotch). I encourage you to compare the origins of whatever your favorite history source is with the history of the Bible, and see which has sources that were nearer to the events. You may be surprised.

Definitely agree with your reference to "so called Christians", as folks doing horrible things to others aren't acting as a Christian should. (Not suggesting I'm perfect, by any means).

Have a good one.

He wasn't comparing himself to God, he was comparing a situation he is going through to one Jesus did and that as Jesus did, he too should stay grounded and humble and remember to serve others. Comprehension must be difficult for you

Yes, comparing his situation and to that of Jesus. Sorry I find that to be a bit much. But of course since I responded to someone invoking religion it causes everyone who is also religious to get super offended even though I did nothing but praise Brock outside of critique one part of what he said. Grow thicker skin and don’t try to insult my intelligence bc I have an opinion you don’t agree with.
